What are the group expectations?

Written by ShareWell Support

ShareWell groups are designed to be safe, flexible, and supportive spaces. While all groups follow ShareWell’s core Safety Policy, some expectations may vary depending on the host.

You’re welcome to participate at your own pace, and speaking is never required. Many members choose to observe, especially in their first few groups.

  • You can say “I’d like to pass” if you’re not comfortable sharing

  • Observers should have lived experience related to the group topic

  • Sharing is encouraged, but never required

You also have control over your identity on the platform. You do not need to use your real name, and your personal information is not visible unless you choose to share it.

Our Default Guidelines

By default, groups follow a few core guidelines to help create a safe and connected environment:

  • Camera on

  • Substance-free (no smoking, vaping, or drinking during the session)

Custom Guidelines

However, hosts may customize their group settings so you know what to expect before joining. Depending on the group, you may see:

  • Camera optional participation

  • Content (trigger) warnings for sensitive topics

  • Substance-flexible guidelines

Even in more flexible spaces, all participants are expected to remain present, respectful, and engaged. Following the host’s guidelines helps maintain a supportive environment for everyone. Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in removal from the group.
