We've built a flexible, easy-to-use booking system that allows you to schedule online lessons with the best tutors across the UK.

All of our lessons take place through Sherpa's online lesson space. This combines a video call with an online, interactive whiteboard that is joined through your computer or tablet using any up-to-date internet browser.

To book a session, first let's find a tutor that suits your needs using our Find a Tutor page:

Here you can search through hundreds of qualified and experienced tutors. Click on a search result to visit the full profile and read all about their skills, experience and reviews - some tutors even have an introductory video! You can also contact our team for some personalised recommendations to suit your needs.

Once you see a profile you like, you can either 'Send a Message' to start a conversation, 'Book an Introduction' to request a free 20-minute introduction, or go straight to 'Book a Session' to book a paid lesson. Learn more about introductions here.

You will then be able to message your tutor to liaise and discuss with them further.

Booking your first lesson is easy. From the tutor's profile or your Messages page, just use the 'Book a Lesson' button to browse a tutor's available slots and create a booking request for either a:

You can also create a booking or introduction straight from your Bookings page with any of the tutors you have recently contacted.

You'll need to add payment details to send a request, but you won't be charged until 24 hours before the lesson. If the lesson starts in less than 24 hours, payment will be attempted when the request is accepted by the tutor.

Once you've sent this request, it will show as 'Pending' until the tutor accepts - they are notified via email to do so.

If your tutor has sent you a booking request it will also show on your Bookings page, where you will need to add payment details to confirm it. When a booking is confirmed, the label will change to 'Upcoming'.

You can cancel for free up to 12 hours before. Cancelling with less than 12 hours notice will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Edits can be requested by clicking the 'Edit' button next to the session on your Bookings page. You can edit the lesson up until 10 minutes before it starts.

10 minutes before the session is supposed to start, you'll receive an email like this with a direct link to the classroom. Please note, you must be logged in to join lessons.

If you don't have access to the email, you can also join from your Bookings page where you will be able to see your lesson in progress and launch the classroom.

Once you've joined, you'll be able to see your tutor via video call alongside an interactive whiteboard with the lesson materials. You can consult our dedicated tutorial to see how it works.

The classroom is optimised for computers and tablets, so please join from one of these devices.

Once your lesson is finished, you'll receive an email to let you know that your lesson recording is ready to view. Lesson recordings are only accessible to you and Sherpa's safeguarding team where necessary. The tutor will be able to see the lesson notes made in the classroom.

You can visit your Completed Bookings to view your notes from any session or watch the whole lesson recording!
