We've built a flexible, easy-to-use booking system that allows you to schedule online lessons with the best tutors across the UK.

All of our lessons take place through Sherpa's online lesson space. This is a combination of Zoom with an online, interactive whiteboard that is joined online, through any up-to-date browser.

To book a session, first let's find a tutor that suits your needs using our find a tutor page:

Here you can search through hundreds of qualified and experienced tutors or get in touch with us for some custom recommendations. Click on a search result to visit the full profile and read all about their skills, experience and reviews - some tutors even have an introductory video!

Once you see a profile you like, you can either 'Get in Touch' to start a conversation, 'Arrange a Free Introduction' to provisionally book a time to have a free 20-minute introduction, or go straight to 'Book a Session with them to book a paid lesson. Learn more about introductions here.

All of these options will start the conversation with the tutor and take you to your messages page. Your tutor can now respond to you here.

Booking your first session is easy. From the tutor profile or the messages page, just use the 'Book a Session' button to browse a tutor's available slots and create a booking request for either a:

You can also create a booking or introduction straight from your bookings page and select from tutors you have recently contacted.

You'll need to add payment details to send the request, but you won't be charged until 24 hours before the lesson. If the lesson starts in less than 24 hours payment will be attempted when the request is accepted by the tutor.

Once you've sent this booking request, it'll be up to your tutor to accept it so it will stay on your bookings page until then with the label - "Pending by tutor". You can always drop them a message to remind them!

If your tutor has sent you a booking request it will also be on your bookings page where you will need to add payment details to confirm. When a booking is confirmed, the label will change to "upcoming".

You can cancel for free up to 12 hours before. Cancelling with less than 12 hours notice will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Edits can be requested by clicking the "Edit" button next to the session on your bookings page. by your tutor, all the way up until your lesson session starts, 10 minutes before.

10 minutes before the session is supposed to start, you'll receive an email like this with an invite to join:

You may be asked to log in after you click the link 'Join the classroom!' button if you recently logged out of Sherpa. Just click the email link again and hey-presto! You're in!

If you can't find the email for any reason, log into your account and go your bookings page where you will be able to see your session in progress at the top of the list and join from there using the blue "Launch" button.

Once you've joined, you'll be able to see your tutor in a large video feed to welcome you. You can consult our dedicated tutorial to see how it works.

Once you toggle the whiteboard your video will move to the left-hand side, with the majority of the screen now being our interactive whiteboard.

This works best on laptops (especially with touchscreens) and tablets!

Once your lesson is completed, shortly after you'll receive an email to let you know that your lesson notes are ready to view and download.

You can also go to your Completed Bookings at any point, where you can view your notes from any session or watch the whole lesson recording!
