How do payments on Sherpa work?

An explanation of our payment schedule and how you'll be paid for your bookings on Sherpa.

Sherpa is set up to ensure receiving your payments for your lessons is nice and easy. We have partnered with Stripe to simply and securely allow you to receive payments for your lessons on a regular basis.

How does payment work?

Please note this article was updated on the 5th March 2024 to reflect the improvements we have made to the payment system after the first Stripe Connect payout on the 1st March.

When you complete a lesson on Sherpa, we will transfer the funds from the lesson to your Stripe account straight away. You'll be able to view the funds on your Express Dashboard.

Stripe then holds the funds for 7 days to allow any disputes to be settled.

When do I get paid?

We automatically pay out your funds on the 1st and 14th of each month.

Your payment on the 1st of the month is for lessons completed between the 1st and 15th of the previous month.

Your payment on the 14th of the month is for lessons completed between the 16th and the end of the previous month.

Payment will usually reach your bank account on the payment date, however, other delays can be introduced by your bank or Stripe that may be outside of our control, so we cannot guarantee that your funds will arrive by the 1st or 14th.

How often do I get paid?

You are automatically paid on the 1st and 14th of every month.

What does 'Transferring <date>' mean?

On your Payments Page, you can see the date that the payment from a booking will be transferred to your connected Stripe account. Once this date has been reached, you'll be able to see the payment from your Stripe dashboard:

What does 'Payout <date>' mean?

On your Payments Page, you can see the date that you'll receive the funds from a booking into your connected bank account. This is automatically done on the 1st and 14th of every month. You'll be able to see Payouts through your Stripe dashboard too:

Why does my booking not have a 'Transferring' date?

Some early February bookings were paid out using the old payment system, meaning they will not be paid through Stripe - these sessions will not have a 'transferring' date. These bookings are usually on the 1st Feb, but they may have been edited to take place at any point in February.

How do I update my payment details?

Head to your Stripe Express dashboard, click on your profile in the top right and scroll down to where you can see 'Payout details'.

Here, you can click on 'Sherpa' and add another connected bank account.

Why has my payment not arrived yet?

Whilst Sherpa sends the funds on the 1st and 14th, your bank may cause delays in receiving the payment. Get in touch with our support who can provide you a Trace ID which you can use to track the payment with your bank.

How do I see my upcoming payments?

Your Sherpa payments page shows you your past payments on Sherpa, as well as the expected upcoming payments from your lessons.
