We want all tutors to feel in control of their group classes and be able to handle refunds with the attendees directly.

Any student who joins your class will automatically send you a message through the Sherpa messenger. They may decide that they no longer want to attend the class and you are obliged to allow a full refund with more than 24 hours' notice.

With less than 24 hours' notice, it is up to you whether you would like to offer a refund. This may affect whether the class goes ahead due to the chosen minimum number of students, so we leave this up to the tutor's discretion.

Contact us with any concerns if you are faced with cancelling a class that is close to the minimum attendance. We can help ensure it goes ahead.

How to Refund a Student

To refund a student, navigate to your group class edit page by visiting your "Group Classes" tab in the left-hand sidebar. Find the appropriate group class and click the green "View" button.

From there, select the "Students" tab and see click the "Refund" button next to the student requesting a refund. You will be asked to add a reason so it can be confirmed in an automated message to the student.

Once you click "Confirm Refund", our payment provider will start the refund process. Depending on how long ago the group class space was purchased, the refund may be on hold and take just 1 business day otherwise it can take up to 10 working days.
