How do I sync my Google or Outlook Calendar on Sherpa?

Block out times you're busy from your Sherpa calendar by syncing your Google or Outlook calendar.

Going back and forth with students to find availability can be incredibly time-consuming.

You've already added your availability onto Sherpa, but a dentist appointment means that you can't make the time a student has requested for an introduction.

We get it! That's why we've added the ability for tutors to sync their external calendars with their Sherpa Calendar.

Now, that dentist appointment that you have in your Google or Outlook calendar will automatically be removed from your Sherpa Calendar.

How do I sync my external calendar?

All you need to do to sync an external calendar is head to your 'Integrations' page.

Here, click on 'Sync Calendar'. It'll take you to the 3rd party website in order to grant permission for Sherpa to access your calendar.

πŸ”” Sherpa does not store any information related to events apart from the start and end times.

You'll be taken to a loading page that confirms that we're currently syncing your calendar! This will automatically update when it's complete. You can leave this page and check back later when your sync is complete.

Then, you can head to your 'Exceptions' page. Here, we list out all of the exceptions we've taken from your external calendar syncs.

Whenever your external calendar changes, we'll reflect these changes in your Sherpa Calendar!

Now, when you send a link to your Sherpa Calendar, you can be sure it accurately reflects your real availability.


FAQs

Q: Can I sync several Google or Outlook calendar accounts?

A: If you need to add events from a personal Google account and another for business for example, please contact support. Only one calendar of each type is available to add for now.

Q: I have several calendar types on my Google/Outlook account. Will it include all of them?

A: Sherpa will only sync events from your primary calendar to block out your availability, so other non-important events can be used on secondary calendars.

Q: What happens when I add an all-day event to my Google/Outlook calendar?

A: This will block out the entire day from your availability if you want to take a day off from further booking requests. It does not impact existing confirmed or pending bookings.

Q: How does an invitation event affect my availability?

A: Invitation events remove your availability for new requests until you respond 'No' to attending. This prevents you from double booking before you get a chance to respond.
