Using tags in automations

Updated over 6 months ago

Tags are a powerful tool in your CRM that allow you to categorize and organize contacts, deals, and other entities. By using tags effectively in your automations, you can create highly targeted and personalized campaigns. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to use tags in CRM automations, including their use as triggers and editing/adding them directly from the automation tab.

Using Tags as Triggers

  1. Start by creating a new automation.

  2. Choose "Contact Tag" as your trigger.

  3. Select the specific tag that will trigger the automation. You can choose to trigger the automation when the tag is added, removed, or both.

Using Tags in Actions

  • Add Actions
After setting the trigger, add actions to be executed when the trigger is met.

  • Filter by Tag
You can use tags to filter the contacts or deals that the actions will target. For example, you could send an email to all contacts with the tag "New Lead."

Adding Tags Directly from the Automation Tab

  • Locate the Tag Field
In the automation builder, you'll find a field where you can add or edit tags.

  • Add or Remove Tags
Simply type the tag name or select from existing tags to add or remove them.

Tips for Effective Tag Usage

  • Use descriptive tag names
Choose names that clearly indicate the purpose of the tag.

  • Create a consistent tagging system
Develop a standardized approach to tagging to ensure consistency across your team.

  • Utilize tag hierarchies
Create parent and child tags to organize your tags more effectively.

  • Leverage tag-based reporting
Use the CRM's reporting features to analyze data based on tags.

By effectively using tags as triggers and in actions, you can create highly targeted and personalized automations that help you streamline your workflow and achieve your marketing goals.
