What is Highway?

Shipwell is excited to announce the integration Highway with our platform, enhancing our carrier management capabilities. Highway provides real-time updates and insights into carrier details, ensuring that you can confidently work with carriers that meet your standards. By integrating Highway with Shipwell, you’ll gain access to automated processes that simplify carrier management, saving time and reducing errors.

How does the Highway Integration work?

The Highway Integration in Shipwell allows users to connect their existing Highway account to their Shipwell platform through a seamless setup process. Once connected, the integration establishes a direct line of communication between Shipwell and Highway, enabling:

  • Automatic carrier creation in Shipwell after onboarding packets are completed in Highway.

  • Continuous carrier monitoring, with real-time updates applied to carrier profiles when changes occur (available late Q2).

Note: An active Highway account is required to use this integration.

Key Highway Integration functionality

  1. Account Connection: Link your Highway account to Shipwell through the Integration Marketplace.

  2. Automated Carrier Onboarding: Automatically create new carrier profiles in Shipwell once Highway onboarding packets are completed.

  3. Ongoing Carrier Monitoring (coming late Q2): Automatically apply updates to carrier profiles when Highway detects changes, such as compliance issues or insurance updates.

Benefits to using the Highway Integration

Integrating your Highway account with Shipwell offers several key advantages:

  • Save Time with Automation: Automatically create carriers in Shipwell, reducing manual data entry.

  • Ensure Accurate Carrier Profiles: Keep carrier details up to date with real-time updates from Highway.

  • Enhance Compliance Monitoring: Get instant alerts and automatic updates when a carrier’s status changes.

  • Reduce Risk: Quickly identify and flag carriers with compliance issues, ensuring you work only with trusted partners.

Setting up the Highway Integration - Initial Connection

Setting up the Highway Integration is simple. Follow these steps to connect your Highway account to Shipwell:

  1. Navigate to the Integration Marketplace:

    • Go to the Manage tab in Shipwell, and select Company.

    • Click on Integrations from the left-hand menu.

  2. Find the Highway Integration Card:

    • Locate the Highway card in the Integration Marketplace.

  3. Connect Your Account:

    • Click Connect on the Highway card.

    • Enter your Highway credentials when prompted and select Connect.

4. Confirm Connection:

  • Once validated, you’ll see a green confirmation message and a checkmark on the Highway card.

  • If an error occurs, please verify your credentials with Highway or contact their support team.

Using the Highway Integration - New Carrier Onboarding/Creation

After connecting your Highway account, Shipwell will automatically create new carrier profiles for carriers that have completed onboarding packets in Highway.

How It Works:

  • Once the onboarding packet is marked as “complete” in Highway, Shipwell receives the carrier details.

  • Shipwell uses this information to automatically create a new carrier profile in your platform.

  • Shipwell then notifies Highway that the carrier has been added, marking the onboarding packet as processed.

Note: The Highway integration only supports automatic creation of new carriers. If you have existing carriers that have already onboarded through Highway, contact your CSM for support with the migration of these carriers.

Using the Highway Integration - Carrier Compliance Monitoring - Available late Q2 2025

Once a carrier is created in Shipwell, the integration will begin monitoring carrier compliance using live updates from Highway. Shipwell listens for key alerts from Highway, which trigger automatic updates to the carrier profile.

Here’s how it works:

Alert Type

Highway definition

Shipwell Action

connection_overall_rule_result_changed

A rule changed occurred for the carrier and it resulted in a change in the broker's rules assessment for that carrier. For example, the carrier was a pass under their rules assessment but an Identity Alert was posted on the carrier for stealing a load and they changed to fail.

Set carrier status to “Do Not Use”

insurance_policy

There was a change to one or more of the carrier's insurance policy information in Highway. Generally related to either an insurance certificate expiring or an insurance agent sending us a new insurance certificate for a carrier.

Update carrier insurance details as provided in the carrier detail
