This document aims to provide instructions and step by step guide to onboard shippers to specific Digital Freight Marketplaces (DFMs) as well as Carrier APIs as an alternative to Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

On the shipper side, logistics teams are challenged in finding capacity with their existing carriers, or otherwise seeking alternative carriers on a spot basis. They want to be able to access this additional capacity as quickly as possible, without a lengthy carrier onboarding process. At the same time, shippers are seeking digital rates, booking, tracking, and electronic documents. If they are leveraging DFMs, the shippers’ primary market option is to visit each one individually.

Key features available through the DFM Integrations:

  • Self Serve Onboarding on DFM Platforms

  • Rating (See Instant Rates)

  • Booking (Book shipments within Shipwell Platform)

  • Tracking (Receive tracking updates within Shipwell Platform)

  • Documents

  • Invoice**

Carrier Configuration

Ensure that the carrier is listed on their carrier management page to enable rating & dispatching to this carrier. If the carrier is not listed, the carrier can be added or imported via the management page.

Note

Note that it is important the carrier listed (Amazon, Uber, etc.) for the customer contains the correct SCAC code for that carrier because the SCAC code is used to match for dispatching purposes.

SCAC codes used with DFM/Carrier-API

  • Amazon Freight = USDOT: 2881058, AZNS

  • Uber Freight = USDOT: 2926893, UFLB
