RMIS Integration
An integration to RMIS data has been added allowing customers to import carrier data from this monitoring 3rd party vendor. Customers will need to have an existing relationship and account with RMIS in order to activate the service within Shipwell.
Customers will be able to setup this integration on their own by accessing the RMIS tile on the Manage -> Company -> Integrations page. This RMIS tile will be visible to all customers and will be marked with a Beta Feature tag until we have customers successfully using the integration.
The user can click on the Configure button in order to bring up the configuration screen. On this screen the user will enter their RMIS credentials including their FTP Username and Password, as well as their API Username and Password. They will need to enter their FTP information first in order to establish the connection.
Once the credentials are entered the system will establish a connection to the RMIS service. The user will receive a notification whether or not the connection was successful or not. Once their account has been successfully setup, the system will update the carrier information on a nightly basis.
After RMIS has been successfully setup, the user will be able to view a new column in the Manage -> Carrier screen called RMIS which will display all the MC numbers associated with the carrier and the RMIS Certification Status for each MC. The certification statuses include Certified, Not Certified, and Unknown.
The Carrier Details page will have a new card displayed called RMIS Data. The RMIS data will be displayed for each MC number for the carrier, and the user can select the MC number by using a drop list in the upper right hand corner.
Key data available in this card includes:
DOT and MC Numbers
FMCSA Safety Rating
Operating Authority
Insurance Policy Information
Policy Effective and Expiration Dates
Policy Limits
Policy Ratings
RMIS Certification Status
Automated Carrier Status Updates
The Shipwell Carrier Status can now be automatically updated based on daily carrier data updates from the RMIS integration. This daily carrier information includes carriers:
RMIS Certification Status
Operating Authority Status
Safety Rating Status
Safety Rating Date
Insurance Status
Insurance Rating
Cargo Insurance Expiration
Cargo Insurance Amount
This RMIS carrier data can currently be viewed in the Carrier Details screen. After the daily carrier update occurs, a process will be run that will set the Shipwell Carrier Status based on customer configured rules stored in the system.
For example, if the carrier’s Operating Authority Status changes to Inactive based on the RMIS data import, the Shipwell Carrier Status can automatically be changed to Inactive. The user can set up their company rules by accessing the Manage -> Company -> Company Defaults -> Carrier Compliance screen. This screen allows the user to assign one of the 3 Shipwell carrier statuses (Active, Inactive, or Do Not Use) based on the carrier data values provided by RMIS.
To create the rules, the user will select the desired Shipwell Carrier Status in the right column using the drop list to associate the Shipwell Status to the incoming data values. If the user wants to configure a rule for a particular field, such as RMIS Certification Status, they can assign a Shipwell Carrier Status for any potential values (in this case, Certified, Not Certified, and Unknown).
To access additional RMIS configuration settings the user can click the Advanced Setting option in the RMIS card. This will expand the card and allow configuration of all the RMIS data elements.
If the user does not want the automated process to configure the Shipwell Carrier Status based on an incoming data field, they can leave all of the Shipwell Carrier Status values blank in the right column. If all values are left unassigned for an incoming data field, the automated process will not make any carrier status changes based on the incoming data.
The automated carrier status process will run on a nightly basis once the daily RMIS import process is completed. The process will also run automatically if configuration changes are made, once the changes are saved and the user exits the configuration screen. Users can subscribe to receive an email notification which provides visibility to all carrier status changes made by the automated process. The notification can be enabled via the Profile, Notifications settings screen shown below.
Feature Flag
The Automated Carrier Status Process is controlled by the feature flag Automatic Carrier Policy Enabled. Please contact your CSM if you need assistance enabling this flag.
