For Shippers/Brokers: How to Tender a Load to a Carrier
If you want to ship with a specific carrier, you can use load boards to tender that shipment to a carrier of your choice.
Select the shipment you want to tender from the Shipments list.
Select Tender to Carriers on the actions tab from Shipment Details page.
The Tender to Carrier options appear. Enter the:
Rate
An Expiration date and time for the carrier to respond
The carrier you want to carry the load. You can select multiple carriers — the carrier that accepts first will take the shipment.
Any specific notes or instructions to the carrier
Select Save.
There will now be a new #LID on the shipment details page. This is the reference number your carrier will see before accepting the shipment to view the actual shipment ID. The status will be in pending approval until accepted or rejected.
When the carrier either accepts or rejects the tender, you will receive an email, and the carrier will be assigned to the shipment (if accepted).
For Carriers: How to Accept or Reject a Tender
When a shipper or broker tenders a load to you, here is what to expect:
Email notification — You will receive an email with the tender details, including rate, shipment information, and the expiration deadline to respond by.
Log into the Shipwell Carrier Portal — Open the shipment and you will see the tender with options to Accept or Reject.
If you accept, you are confirmed as the carrier and automatically assigned to the shipment. The shipper receives an email confirmation.
If you reject, the shipment returns to the shipper to re-tender or find another carrier.
⏰ Note: Tenders have an expiration date/time set by the shipper. If you do not respond before it expires, the tender lapses.
EDI Carriers
If the carrier is set up with EDI, the tender and acceptance exchange happens automatically via EDI 204 (tender) and EDI 990 (response) transactions — no manual action is needed by either party.
