Order Lifecycle Notifications: What Each Notification Means

Shipwell sends automated notifications for key events in the order lifecycle. This article explains what each order-related notification means and when you will receive it.

Order Notification Types

Order Created

Triggered when a new order is created in the system. This is especially relevant in supplier and multi-party workflows — when a purchase order is created (e.g., by a supplier or customer), stakeholders can receive a heads-up to begin planning the associated shipment.

Order Cancelled

Sent when an order you are associated with has been cancelled. This keeps you informed if a planned shipment falls through before it is fulfilled.

Order Release Accepted

Fires when a supplier marks an order (or a partial order) as "Ready" for shipment — i.e., they have released it for fulfillment. This notification signals that goods are ready to be picked up and a shipment can be scheduled.

Order Transit Carrier Assigned

Sent when a carrier is assigned to the shipment that is carrying the order. This lets you and relevant contacts know that a carrier has been booked and the freight is moving toward dispatch.

How to Manage Order Notifications

  1. Click the circle containing your profile picture or first initial at the top-right of the screen.

  2. Select Profile and Preferences from the dropdown.

  3. Click the Notifications tab.

  4. Toggle each notification type on or off for Email and Inbox (in-app).

  5. Click Save.

Note: Some limited user roles (such as carrier users or limited quoting users) may not have access to Profile and Preferences. Contact your admin or CSM if notification settings are unavailable to you.
