User Notifications: Managing Email and In-App Preferences

Written by Shipwell Help

Overview

Shipwell allows you to control which email and in-app notifications you receive, including shipment status updates, auction/bid notifications, and other platform alerts.

How to Access Notification Preferences

  1. Click the circle containing your profile picture or first initial at the top-right of the screen.

  2. From the dropdown menu, select Profile and Preferences.

  3. Click the Notifications tab.

  4. A list of notification types appears, each with checkboxes for:

    • Email — notifications sent to the email address associated with your Shipwell account.

    • Inbox — notifications visible inside app.shipwell.com when you click the bell icon.

  5. Check or uncheck the boxes for each notification type based on your preferences.

  6. Click Save.

Notification Types

Notification types include shipment status updates (booked, picked up, ETA changed, delayed, cancelled), auction and quote request notifications, tender notifications, and other platform alerts. Unchecking a notification type stops that type from being sent to your account.

Tender Notifications

Tender notifications are separate toggles in the Notifications tab (they are not grouped under shipment status updates). The tender-related types are:

Tender Request

A shipper or broker has tendered a load to your company. Sent to the carrier users involved in the tender. Default: Email.

Tender Request Accept Reject

The version of the tender request email that lets the carrier accept or reject the tender directly from the email. Default: Email.

Tender Request Revoked

The shipper or broker withdrew a tender they previously sent. Sent to the carrier users involved and the carrier account reps on the shipment. Default: Email.

Tender Accepted

A carrier accepted the tender. Sent to the shipper user who created the tender, and to the carrier user who accepted and the carrier account reps on the shipment. Default: Email.

Tender Rejected

A carrier rejected the tender. Sent to the shipper user who created the tender and to the carrier account reps on the shipment. Default: Email.

Tender Expired

The tender expired before the carrier responded. Sent to the carrier users involved and to the shipper user who created the tender. Default: Email.

Tender Updated

The shipper changed the details of a tender that was already sent. Sent to the carrier account reps on the shipment. Default: Email.

Which of these you see depends on your account type and enabled features. For EDI carriers, the tender and response are exchanged automatically via EDI 204/990.

Automated Shipment Emails (Per-Shipment Contacts)

In addition to your personal notification preferences, automated shipment update emails can be configured at the stop/location level on individual shipments. These go to contacts listed on the shipment — not to your user account. To manage those:

  1. Open the shipment details page.

  2. Click the pencil icon next to the location/stop name.

  3. At the bottom of the location panel, add or remove email addresses from the contacts list.

  4. Use the checkboxes to select which notification types (Booked, Picked Up, ETA Changed, Delayed, Cancellation) that contact receives.

Limited Users and Notification Settings

Some account types (such as limited quoting users or carrier users) may not have access to the Profile and Preferences menu. If you do not see the Profile and Preferences option in your dropdown:

  • An admin user at your company can adjust notification settings on your behalf.

  • Your Customer Success Manager (CSM) can submit a request to disable specific notification types for your account — contact them through the TMS Customer Support Portal.

Troubleshooting: Why Did I Stop Getting Emails?

If you were previously receiving Shipwell notification emails and they stopped, check the following:

  • Check your Notification Preferences (steps above) to confirm Email checkboxes are still checked for the types you expect.

  • Unsubscribe link clicked — If you or someone else ever clicked "unsubscribe" in a Shipwell notification email, that may have opted your address out at the email delivery level. This cannot be fixed from the Notifications tab alone — contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or submit a ticket through the TMS Customer Support Portal to have your address re-subscribed.

  • Spam or junk folder — Check whether Shipwell emails are landing in your spam or junk folder. Mark them as "not spam" and add Shipwell's sending domain to your safe senders list to prevent future filtering.

  • Account type changed — If your account was changed to a limited quoting user or another restricted role, you may have lost access to certain notification types. Contact an admin at your company to review your account settings.

Need Help?

If you are unable to access notification settings or notifications continue after being disabled, contact your Customer Success Manager or submit a ticket through the TMS Customer Support Portal.
