How to Use Tag Management in Shipwell

Tag management allows you to create reusable tags that can be applied to various objects such as orders, shipments, and carriers across the Shipwell platform. Currently, the tagging capability is only available for new Orders currently. We will not be supporting tags for our legacy/v2 orders. We will be adding central tag management for Shipment tags and then Carrier tags to use the same centralized list of orders now managed under Tag Management.

Managing Tags Centrally

You can also create, edit, activate/deactivate, and delete tags directly in the central Tag Management UI.

  1. Navigate to the Tag Management under Manage β†’ Company β†’ Tag Management

  2. To create a new tag, click "Create New Tag" and enter the tag name, status, and description. Select a color for the tag and click save. Note that the tag name must be unique and make sure and write a good description of the tag so that users know when to use it!

  3. To edit a tag, select it and click "Edit" to modify the tag.

  4. Additionally, if you want to stop users from using a tag temporarily or you want to create it and wait to use it until you train your team or modify your API, you can create the tag but make it inactive.

  5. Delete any tag by selecting it and clicking "Delete". Note that deleting a Tag will not remove the tag from any order that uses the tag. This will delete the tag from the list of tags and will not be available going forward for tagging objects.

Tagging an Order, Shipment, or Carrier (only available on our new Orders currently)

  1. Navigate to the object you want to tag (order, shipment, carrier, etc.)

  2. Click on "Add Tag"

  3. Browse the list of existing tags and select the one(s) you want to add to the object

  4. The tag(s) will be added and saved locally to that object. There will be a loading indicator to show the addition of the tag.

  5. To remove a tag, simply click the X next to the tag to remove it from the object. Additionally, you can clear all tags by clicking clear all tags.

Example Tags on Order Dashboard

Tags will be available as colored circles on the Orders Dashboard, similar to the colored circles on the Shipments Dashboard. If you mouse over the tag, you will see the tag name. Here is an example
