DAT Integration

We have developed a DAT integration that allows companies to access DAT RateView spot and contract rates, post loads, and search for capacity and loads (in the future) on DAT's marketplace. Please note, you have ‘RateView Pro’, as opposed to RateView Basic, for rates to show in Shipwell. Our integration also normalizes equipment types and load requirements across different load boards, making it easy to post loads to multiple boards at once.

To enable the integration, users will need to input their organization's username and password for validation and each user must have their own DAT account. Once activated, users can post loads directly from the TMS and verify them on DAT's marketplace. However, it's worth noting that DAT does not currently support permissions like other load boards do and this functionality will be added in the future.

In summary, Shipwell's DAT integration supports the following activities:

  1. Rating - get spot and contract DAT RateView rates for DRY VAN, REEFER, and FLATBED lanes. **Must have RateView Pro, as opposed to RateView Basic**

  2. Post loads to DAT’s marketplace with an offer rate

  3. Search for capacity - get truck posts for DRY VAN, REEFER, FLATBED, and other equipment types

  4. Search for loads (future capability)

  5. Post trucks (future capability)

To enable the integration follow these steps:

  1. To set up the integration, please begin by emailing DAT at techsupportteamleads@dat.com and include your Shipwell Customer Success Manager on copy of the email for visibility.

    1. Please name the email subject: "DAT/Shipwell Integration - Insert Your Company Name"

      1. EXAMPLE: "DAT/Shipwell Integration - PepsiCo"

    2. In the body of the email, please copy the five inputs below, paste into the body of your email and fill out accordingly:

      1. Full Company Name:

      2. Primary Contact:

      3. Service Account Email:

        1. Its important to give DAT an email that is not associated with an existing user, that you’ll use to log in on behalf of your organization.

        2. Most companies will do this by either generating a new email (Ex: datserviceaccount@abclogistics.com), using a group email (Ex: admin@abclogistics.com), or using a + to make a unique email if your email service allows that (example: johndoe+1@abclogistics.com or johndoe+dat@abclogistics.com)

      4. DOT & MC#

        1. DOT:

        2. MC#:

      5. DAT Account Number:

  2. DAT will email you, the customer, when the integration is complete. You can then proceed to step # 3

  3. Log into Shipwell

  4. Navigate to the integration marketplace (Manage Company and select Integrations) and find the DAT card.

  5. To activate DAT integration, you'll need to provide the credentials for your organization's DAT Service Account. This account will be used to verify the identity of each user attempting to access the system through DAT. Each user who needs access through DAT integration must have their own active DAT account associated with your organization's DAT Service Account. Enter your organization's DAT Service Account's Username and Password. Once you've entered this information and confirmed it's correct, you can proceed to the user verification step.

To enable a user and ensure proper validation, begin by locating the desired user by searching for their email. Once you have found the user, enable them by switching the toggle to the "on" position. This action will initiate the user validation process. It is important to note that the user's email address in the Shipwell platform does not need to match the email address associated with their DAT account.

If the user's Shipwell email address is not successfully validated during the enabling process, a prompt will appear on the screen. This prompt will allow the user to input their DAT email address. To proceed, enter the DAT email address in the provided input field. By doing so, you will link the DAT email address with the user's Shipwell email address, ensuring proper validation.

If the user has a valid DAT account with the organization you will see a successful message and their user will turn on and the toggle with be blue.

Note that DAT doesn't fully support Permissions and this functionally will be a placeholder as DAT continues to build out this capability.

You can also deactivate a user by simply clicking the toggle.

Posting a Load
If a user is activated and a load board is connected, you will see a new Load Boards card on the shipment details.

For each load board you have integrated, you will see a new row in the Load Boards card as indicated below. We will be adding additional load boards to this card throughout the quarter.

To post a load you simply need to click the toggle for the load you would like to post.

You can verify the load is posted on DAT’s marketplace:

Note that you cannot make changes from within DAT’s platform if the load is posted from the TMS.

Post Load with Offer Rate

Users can now post offer rates with the DAT integration and future load boards that support this capability. Click edit post for the desired load board and enter in an offer (all-in) rate that you would like to display on the load board.

The following figure illustrates how this load will be posted for $1234.56 USD on the public load board.

The offer rate, book now or tender price will also display on the side card in the Shipwell TMS.

DAT RateView integration

Users that have a DAT RateView subscription can now see DAT rates on the Pricing Intel page.

Enabling the integration follows the same process as enabling DAT load board integration in the Integration Marketplace.

Entering origin and destination (lane) on the left side panel

Pricing Intel supports

  • 3 and 5 digit postal codes

  • City, ST entry supported

  • Address

Shipwell Market Rate and Lane Insights

  • User will see a Shipwell Market rate if one is available for that lane.

  • Price Volatility shows High/Medium/Low if lane has large price swings in prior 12 months - this value is also shown in RFP Automation

  • Tender Rejection % - if available shows the tender rejection rate on this lane for all Shipwell carriers

DAT Broker-to-Carrier Spot Rates

Users who are enabled to see DAT RateView rates will see the DAT spot rate at the top of the page. It shows the Avg, Low and High range for this lane. It also show the geography precision (e.g. 3 digit zip, Market, X-Market) as well as time precision (7 days, 15 days) returned by DAT.

Other information returned by DAT includes the amount of fuel that is calculated as part of the rate as well as the number of reports and companies that contributed their rates to DAT for this lane.
