How to build reports as a Builder User in the Shipwell Platform?

This article will guide you, as a "Builder" user in Shipwell, on how to create custom reports and dashboards within the Shipwell platform. It will walk you through the two main approaches: editing existing dashboards and building entirely new ones. You'll learn how to select relevant data, build visualizations, apply filters, and save your reports. Bonus tips are also included to help you get started quickly and explore the full potential of custom reporting in Shipwell. By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to gaining valuable insights from your supply chain data and making informed decisions

Prerequisites

Check Your User Privileges:

Before diving in, ensure you have analytic privileges and your user has been enabled to be a builder user. If not, contact your Shipwell customer service representative to enable this access.

Before you begin

  1. Navigate to Analytics:

Open the Shipwell platform and head to the "Analytics" section. You'll find it within the main navigation menu.

  2. Understand Your Options:

Do you want to edit an existing report or dashboard or do you want to build a new report or dashboard?

There are two ways to build a new report:

Option A: Edit an existing report or dashboard

  1. Select a Dashboard: Choose the dashboard you want to modify by clicking on it from the right-side navigation window. Note that you will only be able to edit dashboards in the Group or User Folders.

  2. Open the Editor: Click the ellipsis "..." icon, then select "Edit Dashboard."

  3. Add a Report: If editing an existing report, select the report and click edit. If adding a report to the dashboard click add. Within the editor, click the "Add" button and choose "Visualization." Follow the instructions in option B below to create the report itself.

Option B: Create a report or dashboard:

  1. Start Fresh: In the Analytics section, click the ellipsis "..." icon. Select add "Visualization."

  2. Dive into the Data:

    1. Select an Explore: Choose an "Explore" to access the relevant data and fields for your report. This acts as the foundation for your visualizations.

    2. Build Your Report: Click the fields you want in your report, select the filters, and select the settings of the report. Experiment with different options to discover the best way to represent your data.

    3. Filters & Settings: Customize your report with specific filters and settings to narrow down the data and highlight key insights.

3. Save & Celebrate: Click "Save" to add your report to the selected dashboard (or create a new one). Congratulations! You've built your first custom Shipwell report!

Bonus Tips:

  • Pre-built Templates: Utilize the provided report templates as a starting point for faster report creation.

  • Data Modeling Help: Don't hesitate to reach out for support or data modeling assistance if you need a hand.

  • Explore & Iterate: Experiment with different visualizations, filters, and settings to find the most impactful way to present your data.

By following these steps and exploring the platform's capabilities, you'll be well on your way to building informative and insightful reports that empower data-driven decision-making across your supply chain.

Which existing Shared reports can be "explored" ?

The following "Shared" reports are built with the new "under-the-hood" data schemas and thus can be explored. The other "Shared" reports are being moved over gradually. This list will be updated as reports are migrated over to the new data schema.
