Frames allow you to create top and bottom sections (like headers and footers) and apply those globally across templates and pages.
Creating a frame
Frames have their own page in Shogun Frontend, and can be found through the main menu on the right sidebar.
To create a frame:
Go to the Frames page using the right side menu.
Click on ADD FRAME.
Enter the frame name.
Click CREATE.
You will be redirected to the Experience Manager (XM) where you will be able to build the frame with sections.
Adding sections to the frame
Before adding a frame to a template or page, we need to add sections to the frame itself. You can add, rearrange, and remove sections, as well as provide data to them in the same way as a template or page.
π§ Custom content section cannot be added to a frame.
To add sections to a frame, from the right sidebar:
Click on the Add sections like headers and banners here option on Frame top area.
Select the desired sections from the sections dropdown. You can select as many sections as you want, and drag the section to rearrange its order if necessary.
Repeat the process for the Frame bottom.
Click SAVE to save your changes.
To remove sections from a frame:
Click on the section to be removed.
Click on Remove section from frame.
Click on Delete section in the prompt.
Click SAVE on the XM sidebar when you are done removing sections.
Default frame
This is optional, but you can set one frame as the default frame. The default frame will be automatically selected whenever you create a new template or static page.
To set a frame as default, check the Set as default frame option on the frame page.
Changing the default frame
π§
Changing the default frame won't impact pages and templates that are currently using the frame.
To change the default frame:
Go to the current default frame.
Deselect the Set as default frame option.
Click SAVE.
Go to the frame that will be the default.
Check the Set as default frame option.
Click SAVE
Renaming a frame
A frame name can be changed at any time. In order to change its name:
Click on FRAME SETTINGS located at the bottom of the sidebar.
Enter a new name for the frame.
Click SAVE when done.
Applying a frame to a template
A frame can be applied to a template when creating a template or at any time, by going to the template page.
To apply a frame to a template:
Go to the Templates page using the right side menu.
Select the desired template.
Select a frame from the Frames dropdown on the XM sidebar.
Click SAVE to save your changes.
All pages generated from a template with a frame will automatically contain the frame top and bottom sections. Changes to the frame selection must be made at the template level.
π§ You can't change a frame for a single page generated from a template. Frame top and bottom sections are always inherited from a template.
Setting a frame to a template
Applying a frame to a page
In the same fashion as for the templates, you can add or change a frame associated with a static page (a page that doesn't belong to any template) at any time.
Go to the Pages page using the right side menu.
Select the desired page.
Select a frame from the Frames dropdown on the XM sidebar.
Click SAVE to save your changes.
Deleting a frame
A frame can be deleted as long it is not being used by pages or templates.
To delete a frame:
Go to the Frames page using the right side menu.
Look for the frame you want to delete.
Click on the three dots icon.
Select Delete frame.
Click DELETE on the confirmation modal.
