Automations let you set rules that control how your checkout behaves, without any manual work on your end. You define the condition, you define the action, and Shopflo handles the rest in the background.
If you want to reduce RTO losses, prevent fraud, or control how discounts and rewards get applied, Automations is where you set that up.
What Can I Do With Automations?
Right now, Automations supports two types of actions.
Block a Payment Method Restrict payment methods like COD based on conditions you define. You can trigger this based on cart value, cart quantity, customer type, order history, RTO risk, and more.
Block Reward Redemption Prevent rewards from being applied under specific conditions. This is useful when you want to avoid double discounting alongside other active offers.
How Does It Work?
Every automation follows a simple if-then logic:
Do this β the action you want to apply (for example, block COD) When β the condition that triggers it (for example, cart value exceeds βΉ5,000)
You can layer multiple conditions using customer eligibility filters including first-time customers, lifetime order count, customer segments, UTM parameters, pincode RTO risk, and customer RTO risk.
How Do I Create an Automation?
Step 1: Go to the Automations page from your Shopflo dashboard
Step 2: Click on New Automations.
Step 3: Choose a ready-made template or select Start Blank to build your own.
Step 4: In the automation creation screen, select your action. In this case, let's click on Block Payment.
Step 5: From the dropdown, choose COD as the payment method you want to block.
Step 6: Set the condition for when the block should apply. Some examples:
Block COD if cart amount exceeds a certain value
Block COD when cart quantity reaches a set number
Block COD for first-time customers
Block COD for customers who placed more than a set number of COD orders in the last 30 days
Let's try blocking COD when cart amount reaches 5000.
Step 7: You can set what channels the automations works on, what time does it go active and until when the automation should run.
Step 8: Add a clear title and description so you can identify it easily later.
Step 9: Click Save to activate your automation.
Step 10: Make sure to activate your automation. It won't run until it's active.
π‘ You can create multiple automations and stack them to cover different scenarios. Each one runs independently in the background.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an automation? An automation is a rule you set once that Shopflo runs automatically during checkout. You don't need to do anything manually once it's active.
What actions can I automate? Currently you can block a payment method (like COD) or block reward redemption. More action types are coming.
What conditions can I use to trigger an automation? You can trigger automations based on cart value, cart quantity, customer type, number of past COD orders, customer segments, UTM parameters, pincode RTO risk, and customer RTO risk.
Can I run more than one automation at a time? Yes. You can create multiple automations and they all run independently. This lets you cover different scenarios without interfering with each other.
My automation is saved but not running. Why? Check if it's activated. Saving and activating are two separate steps. Your automation won't go live until you activate it.
When should I use a segment in an automation? If you want to target a specific group of customers, like users with a history of cancellations or customers from high-RTO areas, create a segment first and then reference it as a condition in your automation.
