High cart values and COD don't always mix well. When a large order gets rejected at delivery, you absorb the shipping cost, the return cost, and lose the sale. This automation blocks COD and Split COD as payment options when a cart crosses ₹5,000, so those orders have to be prepaid.
How Do I Set This Up?
Step 1: Go to Automations from your Shopflo dashboard.
Step 2: Click the New Automation button.
Step 3: Choose Start Blank to create a custom automation.
Step 4: Select the Block Payment option.
Step 5: Search for and select Cash on Delivery. If you also want to cover Split COD, add that too.
Step 6: Set the condition to block COD and Split COD when the cart amount reaches ₹5,000. First, Click on Cart Amount.
Step 7: Then, enter the minimum cart value as 5,000, then press Enter.
Step 8: Decide which channels this automation applies to and finalise the settings.
Step 9: Set a start date and an end date if you want it to run for a limited time. If you want it to run indefinitely, you can leave the end date open.
Step 10: Give it a clear title, for example: "Block COD and Split COD for carts above ₹5,000."
Step 11: Add a description if helpful, then click Save.
Step 12: Go back to the Automations page and activate your automation by toggling the switch. It won't run until this step is done.
💡 Saving and activating are separate steps. Don't forget to toggle it on or the automation won't go live.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this automation actually do? It removes COD and Split COD as payment options at checkout whenever the cart value is ₹5,000 or more. Customers with high-value carts will have to pay online.
Why ₹5,000 specifically? That's just an example to get you started. You can set whatever threshold makes sense for your business. Go with the cart value above which you're seeing the most RTO risk.
Can I block just COD and not Split COD, or vice versa? Yes. You can add one or both payment methods to the block. Just select whichever ones apply when setting up the action.
Do I need to set an end date? No. End dates are optional. If you want this to run as a permanent rule, just leave the end date blank.
I saved the automation but COD isn't being blocked. What's wrong? Check if the automation is activated. Saving creates it, but activating is what makes it go live. Look for the toggle on the Automations page and make sure it's switched on.
Can I apply additional conditions on top of the cart amount? Yes. You can layer more conditions like customer type, order history, or RTO risk score alongside the cart amount condition. This lets you get more targeted with who gets blocked.
