A: Shulspace was created to offer a modern shul system that is extremely easy to use. We utilize cutting-edge, up to date technology and have created every detail with feedback and interviews from shul users. The most common feedback we receive from Shuls migrated from other systems is how easy it is to use.
Unlike legacy Shul software, Shulspace is a community effort by Bitbean and is intentionally affordably priced.

A: Due to constant improvements to future development plans, we are unable to finalize package deals until the features are fully built out. Would you like to be updated about our future products as they go live?
Q: Is there a minimum amount of usability on each feature and what are the fees if you go over them?
A: Our payment model requires users to pay a monthly fee for the paid features active on their accounts. There are no additional fees attached to any feature. Ex. Once you pay for our advanced member management feature, there are no limits on how many invoices you can send out.

Account Set-Up
Q: How do I open a Shulspace account?
A: Head over to Shulspace.com, at the top right of the website click the button that says “Sign-up” free. Enter you information into the form and you will be sent an email with log-in information. It’s that simple to create an account.
Q: I have signed up already when can I make a login?
A: You should have received an email with sign-in information when you signed up for an account. Please check you inbox and your spam folder for an email from no-reply@shulspace.org. If you did not receive an email, click forgot password and you will receive an email with instructions to get back into your account.
Do you know when you think you will have the member login feature up and running?
We have a member portal for viewing family members, yhartzeits and paying invoices.
Member Management
Q: Can I bulk upload my members? - Is there a way to upload members via a csv file?
A: Yes. You have the ability to bulk upload your members from a CSV file. If you need assistance, please reach out to us here and we can upload your list for you.
Q: Can I add an annual membership fee to a member in Shulspace?
A: Shulspace users organize their members with Shul tags. A tag can be applied to a “member” (Shulspace calls any contact added to your Shul a member) in your system to help you identify members. Our system can only help you identify your members are send them an invoice but does not automate recurring invoices based on membership level. Charging a member needs to be done manually by the admin of an account.
Q: Can I add shul visitors in Shulspace?
A: Shulspace users organize their members with Shul tags. A tag can be applied to a “member” (Shulspace calls any contact added to your Shul a member) in your system to help you identify which contacts are visitors.
Q: Is there a member login?
A: Yes, once a member is added they have an option to get a welcome email.
Q: Can you keep track of Yahrtzeits?
A: Yes. We have a Yahrtzeit screen where you can track all Yahrtzeits related to your Shul.
Q: Does this site do seating charts?
A: Not yet. what specific features were you looking for? Additionally, would you like to be updated when we have this feature?
Q: Do you have member accounts with Hebrew and English names?
A: You can upload members with both Hebrew or English names. There is no Hebrew keyboard on the system but you can use a Hebrew keyboard on your computer and it will upload as Hebrew into our system.
Q: Do you have a Purim gift feature (w/ reciprocity)?

Q: Do you have a Mechiras Chametz form?

GoDaven Zmanim
Q: Why do I need a go daven account?
A: We rely on an integration with GoDaven to offer users our Zmanim feature. If you would like to display your Zmanim on your website you need to have a GoDaven account as well.
Q: Do you automate Zmanim?
A: Depends on what you are referring to when you say automate Zmanim. You have the ability to set different sets of automated conditions for weekly minyanim and shabbos minyan in GoDaven. You are limited on Shabbos and Yom Tov automation and have to input certain Zmanim manually on your announcements such as Hadlakos Neiros, Shkia, and Yom Tov Zmanim.
Q: Can you please confirm a shul for me on go daven?
A: Are you referring to your verification on GoDaven or on Shulspace. Your GoDaven account must be verified and then in order to access it through your Shulspace account, you must be verified in Shulspace as well.

Q: How do we record a pledge/charge? does each transaction become a new income or it's like a rolling transaction?
A: You create an invoice and it gets attached to a member. The member receives the invoice in their inbox and can pay it off through the link in the invoice.The balance is rolling but each individual invoice stays separate. You can have multiple line items in each invoice. There are statements in each member profile that are visible to the system admin.
Q: Do you have statements for Shul members?
A: Yes.
Q: Can you process credit card payments?

Q: Hi, from the finance end, does Shulspace handle accounts payable or just accounts receivable?

A: Any, as long as they provide you with their donation URL link. In order to see the donations on your shulspace account you need a full integration.

Q: Is it possible to send an email to members?
A: Yes, our system can automatically send announcements as a PDF at a time you specify. Additionally, you can send invoices from Shulspace as well. We do not yet offer the ability to send personalized emails to specific members on your shul account.

A: As of now there are no plug-ins, which ones did you have in mind?
Q: Will there be a place to upload pictures as well?
A: There is. Go to features and toggle Photo Albums. Then a Photo Albums page will appear on the left hand side of your screen. It can be shared on your website.

A: Yes.
Q: Do you have a place for audio and shiurim?

Q: Can I add an admin?
A: Yes, please head to the setting screen, under basic you should see a tab called Shul Admin. Click the + button and add the new admin's information. Once saved, they will receive an email to sign in.
Member Management
Q: How do upload my members?
A: Head to the member page. On the top right there is a button labeled “Import”. Click that button and follow the instructions listed or watch this tutorial.
Q: My member upload is not working, can you help?
A: If you are having trouble with the upload we can do it for you. Please send us your member list through this chat. Keep in mind that members need emails in order to upload and receive emails and invoices. It is crucial that you collect that information before this upload, or just create a fake email for them. This requirement is in the middle of being removed.
Q: Why is my CSV not uploading, I followed the instructions?
A: If you are having trouble with the upload we can do it for you. Please send us your member list through this chat. Keep in mind that members need emails in order to upload and receive emails and invoices. It is crucial that you collect that information before this upload, or just create a fake email for them. This requirement is in the middle of being removed.
Q: I want to add a visitor to the system but I only have the option to add members.
A: Shulspace defines any contact added to your Shul as a “member” however, it can really be anyone including a visitor. You can differentiate a visitor VS a member by creating a custom tag that will help you identify who is who. If you do not want the visitor (or non-member) to receive emails once you send them for example, an invoice, be sure to click the opt-out of email box after you send them their invoice.
Q: Can you please add "aliyah name" and "Kohen levi yisrael" fields to the import?
A: This capability is on our product roadmap, would you like to be updated when the functionality is live?
Q: Is there a way to upload without having everyone's email address?
A: The email is a member’s unique identifier. Without this, you will be unable to utilize features in the system with a member missing an email. If you simply do not have their email or they do not have access to the internet, you can add them with a fake email (test1@email.com). If there are multiple members without emails and you are adding them with fake emails, be sure to differentiate each email test1, test2, test3 etc. or else the system will not allow you to use the fake email more than once.
If you do not have time to collect everyone’s emails or create member accounts, you can send out your default website with the member sign-up form turned on. Have the members in your Shul sign up through that form.
Q: Can I enter another phone number and email for the members?
A: Currently, you can only add one email/phone. If you are trying to add another family member, you will need to create them as their own member. We will have a family member option in the future, would you like to be updated when that feature is live?

Invoicing and Payments
Q: My donation URL link is not working
A: Please send the link you are trying to use and we will have a look at it. Some processors (like Hitech) donation link URLs block websites from using their page in an iframe so you may need to discuss getting an open link from your processor rep. Please give us a second to look into it.
Q: If someone paid, but I want to enter the transaction in Shulspace, but I don't want to resend their invoice, how do I do that?
A: You can simply add the payment and uncheck the box at the button that says send an email. This will allow you to save the payment without receding the invoice.
Q: Does the system know when a payment goes through and does it update the member’s invoice as paid?
A: Yes, if you have the integration set up through Fidelity/Cardknox or Banquest. Click here for a tutorial how to set it up.
Q: I am trying to add a Quickpay link in the payment section, how do I add it to an invoice?
A: The only payment links that will work are donation URL links. If you would like to share a Quickpay link on an invoice, you can manually add it to the note section of the invoice.

Q: What does “Mark as Paid” mean next to an invoice if it's not paid yet?
A: Once a payment has been made, you can click the “mark as paid” button and it will allow you to log the payment.

Q: I created invoices for membership for almost every member, is that automatically sent out at some point/I sent out invoices but no one received them?
A: Make sure that they have opted in for emails. You can check this off on the people screen and going into the members details.
Q: Is there a way to edit, remove or add to the drop-down choices like by aliyos, etc.?
A: No, however, you can use the “other” option, attach a custom note to the line item, or feel free to chat with us and suggest new drop-down options.
Q: Can I create custom line items?
Yes. Go to settings, choose members and invoicing.
Q: If someone wants to wipe his balance clean by paying the entire balance which will pay off multiple invoices, How can we enter a payment that pays multiple invoices.
A: Create a donation under the person and select multiple invoices.
Members can pay off their balance in full in their personal member portal.
Q: How do we record a pledge/charge? does each transaction become a new income or it's like a rolling transaction? - Do you offer statements?
A: There are two aspects to the system. Each member account displays their general amount pledged, paid, and total balance. Additionally, there are invoice line items, which can have multiple pledges within each invoice, that are stored within each members account. The total sum of all the invoices are displayed in the general ledger within the users account.
Each invoice (with or without multiple line items) gets sent to the member email where they can pay off each invoice individually (there will be a member login in the future). As each payment comes in, the admin can mark the invoice as paid (this step will be automatic with certain processors in the near future).
If a member wishes to pay off their total balance in one shot and not have to pay off each individual invoice one by one, this can be done in the member portal.
