Camera Permission for ID Verification

Check your camera permission settings for the ID verification process of ID Proof or Onfido.

Updated this week

During the ID verification process, camera access is required to take a photo of your identity document and face. Sometimes, your browser may not have permission to use the camera. Below you’ll find how to check and adjust these settings.

Check browser settings on iOS

On iOS devices (iPhone/iPad), you can use different browsers such as Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. Check each browser:

  1. Open Settings on your device.

  2. Go to Apps.

  3. Scroll to Safari.

  4. Go to Camera.

  5. Select Allow or Ask.

Chrome

  1. Open Settings on your device.

  2. Go to Apps.

  3. Scroll to Chrome.

  4. Toggle the switch for Camera to Yes/On.

On Android devices, you may also use multiple browsers. Check each browser:

Chrome

  2. Tap the three dots (Menu) > Settings.

  3. Go to Site Settings > Camera.

  4. Make sure camera access is enabled and the site is not blocked.
