Using Tables is the best way to build a Document with data mapping

To create Documents with nice formatting and design, it is useful to use Tables. Tables allow you to organise and align content. A table is useful if you want to precisely position things in a way that tabs or spaces alone may not be so good at doing. In the context of an application form, Tables also allow you to build fields with headings.

The Table functionality is found in the Insert Tab:

You can define your table rows and columns when you add it. You might even add a table with just one cell, which can be used for full text sections of a document. Once Inserted, the Table will appear on your Document; and when you have your cursor anywhere in your Table, you can edit the Table via Table Layout:

Table Layout allows you to edit your table so that it will appear on your Document as you would like it to.

  1. View Gridlines will make visible/hide the table gridlines. Note that the gridlines do not actually print on a generated document unless you edit the Frame (11)

  2. Properties will popup a new Function box which allows you to edit the properties of the table/cell such as Frame, Margins & Colour of Table/Cell, Size and Formatting of Table/Cell:

3. Delete allows you to delete the entire Table, or specific Cells, Rows or Columns:

4. Insert Above allows you to insert a new row above where your cursor is on the table

5. Insert Below allows you to insert a new row below where your cursor is on the table

6. Insert Left allows you to insert a new column to the left of where your cursor is on the table

7. Insert Right allows you to insert a new column to the left of where your cursor is on the table

8. Merge Cells allows you to Merge 2 or more cells

9. Split Cells allows you to undo a Merged cell (and split back to the original cells)

10. Split Table allows you to make a split in your table eg

11. Frames and Background is functionality to edit the Frame of your table/cells.

12. Alignment sets the alignment of text that is populated into particular tables/cells.
