Document Manager: Document Editing Panel

What functionality is available to build your documents

The Editing Panel in Document Manager gives you a set of functionality that can be used to build your Documents. It is mostly quite familiar, if you have created documents in Word:

Home

Home section gives you all the formatting control you need to build content for your Document.

A key items on the Home Tab to be aware of is Use Local Clipboard. You need to click on this in order for cut and paste of content from another Document into the engine to work.

Insert

Among other things, Insert Section allows you to:

  • Insert images (eg pictures and logos) onto your Document

  • Insert Tables. Tables are a key element to use in Document building

  • Page Breaks.

  • Hyperlinks

  • Header & Footer

  • Text Frames

  • Note that the Signature field in this section is not used

Page Layout

Page Layout Tab allows you to manage how your Page/s will be formatted when printed.

Reporting

Reporting Tab gives you access to the LADM datamodel for mapping data onto your document:

On this Tab you can access:

  1. the whole Master Table (LADM data model)

  2. Drill down to specific sections of the LADM data model

  3. Create, Insert, Edit, Delete Merge Blocks to your document

  4. Insert, Delete specific Merge fields to your document

  5. Insert 'Special' Fields to your document

  6. Edit the Field Properties of a selected field

  7. Delete a selected field

  8. Preview your Document (note that the Test Rig is a better way to test your documents)

View

View Tab allows you to alter the Document view, zoom, view gridlines etc:

References

You are able to insert Table of Contents based on the structure of your document:

Proofing

Proofing gives you all the typical controls to check spelling and grammar in your document:

Permissions

Permissions Tab allows you to set editing restrictions to your document:

Form Fields

Form Fields Tab allows you to add editable fields and elements to your Document. This can be useful where you do not have required Data available in the Data Model.

Examples of Editable fields that can be added are:

  • Editable Text fields

  • Editable Check boxes

  • Editable Dropdown lists

Note that you can only have Form Fields on a document that does not also have digital signatures. (Form Fields will not continue to work with Docusign)

Table Layout

Table Layout tab will only be enabled when you are working with a Table. This tab allows you to edit the properties of your table, merge/split cells, add/remove rows, columns etc:

Formulas

Formulas Tab will only be enabled when you are working with a Table. This section allows you to add Formulas to calculate cell detail:
