How long can my recording be?

Written by Ethan Peterson-New

⏱️ How long a recording can be depends on where you record it.

📱 Mobile app — up to 6 hours
Each recording in the Siro mobile app can be up to 6 hours long. If your conversation hits the 6-hour mark, the recording stops automatically and you'll need to start a new one.

💻 Web app (desktop) — up to 3 hours
A recording made in your browser can be up to 3 hours long. Siro warns you 15 minutes before the limit — at 2 hours 45 minutes — so you can save and start a fresh recording. If you pass 3 hours the recording stops on its own, and anything after the 3-hour mark is not captured.

Why the two are different: a browser recording is streamed through Siro's recording service, which ends a session at 3 hours. The mobile app records on your device, so it can run longer. If you know a conversation is going to be a long one, record it on your phone.

Recording in a browser? Recording on Web (Desktop) covers the warning banner and what you'll see if you reach the limit.
