View historical vehicle positions
Vehicle history lets you look back at where one of your own vehicles has been, using the GPS data already sent to Transporeon Visibility.
Use it to investigate incidents, check when a vehicle arrived or left a site, find a trailer left at a port, answer insurance or liability questions about where your vehicle was in a given period, or review tracking quality — without opening a separate telematics portal.
This is history for a vehicle, in Vehicle Management. It is not live tracking of a transport.
Who can use it
You can open Vehicle history when all of these are true:
You are on a carrier account that has a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Transporeon.
You open a vehicle your company owns (including a vehicle you dedicated to a partner).
You open history from Dedicated vehicles — in Table view (Actions column or side panel map) or in Map view.
How to open Vehicle history
Open Vehicle Management.
Go to Dedicated vehicles.
Open a vehicle you own.
Choose Show vehicle history in one of these ways:
From the Actions column (Table view)
Stay in Table view and find the vehicle row.
Open the Actions menu at the end of the row (the three-dot menu).
Select Show vehicle history.
From the Vehicle position map (Table view)
Stay in Table view and click the vehicle row to open the side panel.
On the Vehicle position map in the panel, click Show vehicle history.
From Map view
Switch to Map and select the vehicle.
Choose a date range
When the drawer opens, it shows a recent window ending at the vehicle’s last GPS signal.
Use Date filter to change the window. Two limits apply:
You can look back up to 3 months from that vehicle’s last GPS signal — not from today. If the last signal was 1 September, the earliest date is 1 June.
You can show up to 7 days at a time. The help text is: Up to seven days can be selected.
To see a different week, pick another 7-day window inside that 3-month lookback. History is still available for a vehicle that has been deactivated or returned, as long as you stay within 3 months of that vehicle’s last GPS signal.
What you see
A trail on the map for the selected dates.
A list of GPS signals with time. Each row is one update the platform received. Compare the times to see how often updates arrive — see Check how often updates arrive. Speed (km/h) and fuel (litres) appear when your GPS provider sent them. Missing speed or fuel is normal — it is not a product error.
Open in Maps on each point.
Hide vehicle dwelling
Below the date filter, Hide vehicle dwelling is a toggle that changes how many GPS points appear in the list and on the map.
Toggle off (default)
Every GPS signal in your selected date range is shown. If the vehicle was parked or barely moving, you may see many points recorded at almost the same place with similar times.
Toggle on
Signals that are within 20 meters of each other are hidden. Only points where the vehicle moved at least 20 meters from the previous shown point stay visible. Use this when a parked vehicle would otherwise fill the list with almost-identical points.
Turn the toggle off again when you need every individual signal — for example, to check exact timestamps while the vehicle was standing still.
If all signals in the period are within 20 meters of one another, the list may look empty while the toggle is on. Turn Hide vehicle dwelling off, or adjust the date range, to see those points.
Check how often updates arrive
Compare the times on the list of GPS signals. The gap between one row and the next is how often Transporeon Visibility received an update from that vehicle.
Turn Hide vehicle dwelling off first, so a parked vehicle does not hide updates.
The list shows what arrived in Transporeon Visibility. It does not change how often the GPS provider sends data. If updates arrive less often than agreed, the next step is with the GPS provider.
If the list is empty
Two different messages mean two different things:
No signal
Transporeon Visibility has not received any GPS data for this vehicle. Please reach out to your GPS provider to make sure a signal is sent.
We have never received GPS for this vehicle. The next step is with your GPS provider, not a different date range.
No signals found
No signals found in this period. Adjust the date range above to see results.
There is nothing in the dates you picked. Choose another range inside the 3-month lookback from the last signal. If Hide vehicle dwelling is on, try turning it off first.
What Vehicle history does not do
It does not show history for vehicles granted to you by another company.
It is not on the transport map — only in Vehicle Management, on an own vehicle.
You cannot show more than 7 days in one view, or look back further than 3 months from the last signal.
There is no export and no API in this version.
Extra sensor fields (for example temperature) are not included at this point.
Why you need a DPA
You need a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) on your account. The DPA is part of your Platform User Agreement. Read what it is, why Vehicle history needs it, and how to get the current agreement if yours does not include it: Your Fleet. Your Data. Your Control.
Without a DPA, Show vehicle history is not available. The rest of Vehicle Management stays the same.
If you have a DPA and still do not see the option on a vehicle your company owns in Dedicated vehicles, contact Transporeon support. If the vehicle was granted to you by another company, there is no history option — ask the vehicle owner to look it up on their account.
Frequently asked questions
Why don’t I see Show vehicle history?
You only see it for own vehicles on accounts with a DPA, from Dedicated vehicles (Actions menu, Vehicle position map in the side panel, or Map view). It is not on the transport map or on vehicles another company granted to you.
If you may not have a DPA, see Why you need a DPA. If everything above applies and you still do not see it, contact Transporeon support.
Can I see a partner’s or granted vehicle?
No. History is only for vehicles your company owns. Ask the vehicle owner if they need to look it up on their account.
Can I see more than 7 days on one screen?
Not in one view. Pick another 7-day window. The lookback is 3 months from that vehicle’s last signal. See Choose a date range.
Can I see more than 3 months?
No. We keep 3 months from the last GPS signal. Older data is not available in this view.
Can I export this or call an API?
Not in this version. Vehicle history is in the Visibility UI only.
Speed or fuel is missing on some points. Is that a bug?
No. Speed and fuel only appear when your GPS provider sent them.
What does Hide vehicle dwelling do?
When it is on, consecutive GPS signals within 20 meters of each other are hidden so parked vehicles do not clutter the list. When it is off, every signal in the date range is shown.
How do I check how often updates arrive?
Open the vehicle’s history and read the times on the list of GPS signals. Each row is one update the platform received. The gap between one time and the next is how often updates arrived. Leave Hide vehicle dwelling off.
The vehicle is inactive, archived, or already returned. Can I still open history?
Yes, if you still own the vehicle in Vehicle Management. The lookback is 3 months from that vehicle’s last GPS signal, so delayed claims can still use the same window.
