How to Export 3D Tiles from DJI Terra

Updated this week

DJI Terra is a comprehensive mapping software developed by DJI, designed to turn drone data into digital 3D models and maps. It supports a wide range of applications, from construction and infrastructure planning to surveying and inspection.

This guide will walk you through the steps to export 3D tiles from DJI Terra, ensuring your output is ready for visualisation in SKAND.

  1. Upload photos on DJI Terra. Before doing Aerotriangulation (AT), make sure to select the following options:

    Preprocessing (AT)
    XML Output: XML
XML CRS: Make sure to use the correct CRS

    3D Mesh
    File Format: B3DM

Make sure to toggle on 3D Mesh only. Review all parameters before starting reconstruction

  2. Proceed with processing your data and wait for it to complete.

  3. Go to the output directory and locate a folder labeled terra_b3dms. It is commonly found on models > pc > 0.

  4. Compress the contents of terra_b3dms folder.

  5. You can now upload the zip file to SKAND and create a 3D mesh layer for your data.

Optional: Locate BlocksExchange XML file for Image Groups

If you want to create an Image Group layer as well, below are the steps on how to locate the BlocksExchange XML file for DJI Terra.

  1. Browse through your output directory and open the AT folder.

  2. You can now see the XML file you need for Image Group layer creation.
