JPG, PNG, and PDF files can now be uploaded as Ortho Imagery in SKAND. This allows commonly used image and document formats to be used as orthographic layers within your project.
You can upload these files as either a Regular Ortho layer or a Dynamic Ortho layer, depending on how you want the imagery to behave in the scene.
Once uploaded, these files can be used as orthomosaic layers alongside other spatial data in your project.
How to Create an Ortho Layer Using JPG, PNG, or PDF Imagery
Follow the steps below to create an ortho layer using JPG, PNG, or PDF files.
Georeferenced Imagery
After uploading your files and creating a project, click New Layer to begin the process.
Supply a layer name and capture date.
Select either a Regular Ortho Layer or, in this case, a Dynamic Ortho Layer.
Note: It is recommended to select a Dynamic Ortho Layer if you want to transform or reposition the imagery.
Click Next.
Click the plus icon (+) to add the file.
Select the imagery or PDF.
Click Select to proceed.
Click Done to process the Dynamic Ortho Layer.
The layer will be published shortly. Once the layer status shows Published, it will be ready for viewing in the project.
Note: It is always recommended to use georeferenced JPGs, PNGs, and PDFs.
Non-Georeferenced Imagery
Follow the same steps as for georeferenced layers, but use the Georeference Tool to position it accurately in real-world coordinates.
Note: The Georeference Tool is currently in early access. Contact support@skand.io to get set up.
When to Use This Feature
