Birthday Messages in the SKED Web app enable you to automatically send a birthday message to your patients on their special day! Birthday automatically Messages deploy based on the information contained in the DOB field on the clients page, so sending birthday messages to all of your clients is as easy as composing a message and choosing the time of day you'll want it to send
Sometimes patients do not celebrate their birthday so consideration should be made in those instances: leave their DOB field in the client page blank, and include their DOB in a memo so it's documented, but not considered in our automated birthday reminder system.
Birthday Messages will not go to inert or inactive patients
This article walks you through every setting to get the most out of the Birthday Messages function. Access the Birthday Messages Page by clicking the “Automated Messages > Birthday Messages” tab on the blue sidebar.
Customize Birthday Message
Edit the settings of a birthday message by navigating to Birthday Messages →Click existing Birthday Message message → Click the Edit button.
Edit Title
Edit the Birthday Message title if you want to rename your Birthday Message.
This is to identify the Birthday Message on the Birthday Message Messages Page later.
This title is not visible to patients and is a reference for offices to keep track of their Birthday Messages.
Edit When Message Sends
Decide what time the Birthday Message will be sent. There is no need to include birth date information, as SKED automatically sends birthday messages on the day listed in their DOB field on the client modal.
Choose Timing: Decide when the message goes to a patient on their birthday.
Compose Message (SMS/MMS, Email, Push)
Utilize SKED’s message composer to write messages through SMS, Email, and Push/App notifications. You can insert custom data (using Placeholders) to personalize your messages. Learn more here: Composing Messages (SMS/MMS, Email, Push) Zendesk Article

How do I opt a specific patient out of birthday messages?
There is no function to “opt out” a patient from birthday messages. SKED automatically pulls information from the Client's DOB field on the client page to automatically send out birthday wishes. However, some offices have patients who do not celebrate their birthday for religious or other reasons. For these patients, we recommend you leave the DOB field blank and write their DOB in a memo section on the client page for reference.
Can I change the time of day my birthday message gets sent?
Absolutely! Click the message title, click Edit in the top right corner, and change the Send Time.
How can I make my birthday message more engaging?
We recommend adding a GIF or team picture with a birthday celebration theme and/or letting them know to come see the front desk next time they are in your office for a fun gift.
Are there templates we can use for birthday reminders?
Yes! Click SKED Templates at the top of the page and then click through the options to find which one you like best. For PRO offices, feel free to grab our cute birthday GIF from the “Happy Birthday (4) - SKED Pro Template ⭐”.
