Summary
This section describes, in brief, how to use the free form massing tool, and some techniques that will set you up for success.
This KB Article includes the following:
Creating Geometry
To create a free form mass, select the icon in the tool bar at the bottom of the workspace.
To place your first point down, left click anywhere on the building plot.
If you have made a site offset, use the corners to create your geometry.
You can drag the geometry edge as far as you want, or you can input a specific measurement and it will stay that length no matter the direction.
After you place a point, there are snaps that you can align your geometry edges to. To do this look for the highlighted pink snap after you place a point down.
Refer to the Snap Settings article for more information on snaps.
When you are done creating your geometry, you can either close the shape by placing your last point on your starting point, or you can hit 'enter' to close the shape and create the mass.
The elevation of the mass will initially be set by the origin and grid's elevation. The mass elevation can be modified later and can be different from the grid's elevation.
Floor Count
After closing the geometry, you can adjust the number of floors by moving your mouse. Move the mouse upward to increase the number of floors and downward to decrease it.
The floor count can be changed later.
When you have determined the floor count you want, left click to finish.
If you are dealing with sloping conditions. You will notice a dark grey basement appear below the mass. Look to the Basement & Elevation article to learn more.
Once you have finished creating the massing, you can select the Block and alter the floor count, floor height, etc..
