🧠 What is Steam’s Trade Protection?

Steam recently introduced a trade protection system that allows users to cancel trades during the 7-day hold window. If this happens, Valve can roll back all CS2 trades made within the last 7 days.

💡 How SkinSwap Protects You

To keep the platform stable and prevent abuse, SkinSwap has made the following changes:

  • 🟣 CS Balance now includes both normal balance and escrow balance (pending CS trades)

  • 🟤 Rust Balance uses only normal balance

  • 🔁 Cross-trading between CS and Rust is disabled for an undetermined time

  • 💵 Fiat deposits go into your Normal Balance, which is usable for both CS and Rust items.

✅ Your CS balance is still spendable immediately, even if the deposit is under protection. However, if Valve rolls back a trade, SkinSwap will automatically reverse the affected balance.

⚠️ What happens if I cancel a CS trade?

If you cancel a CS trade while it’s under Steam's 7-day trade protection:

  • The trade is reversed, and the item returns to your inventory

  • Your credited balance is removed from your SkinSwap account

  • Your account will be banned for 30 days to prevent further abuse or risk

🔁 When will cross-trading return?

Right now, Rust trades are not protected by Steam’s rollback system, so they use a different balance. Until Rust gets the same protections, CS and Rust balances remain separate.

🔄 Once Rust adopts Steam’s trade protection system, cross-trading will be re-enabled, and we’ll return to a single balance for all items.
