Searching and Ordering Large AOIs

This support article provides further information on how a user can order imagery using large AOIs.

Updated over a week ago

It’s now easier than ever to search and order imagery over large areas in the updated SkyWatch EXPLORE application.

Customers can now expand their search and place orders with AOI sizes exceeding the maximum limit for automated image processing. This update offers more flexibility to acquire larger areas, and increase the search capabilities for archive imagery.

It must be noted that the final products of these orders will not conform to the SkyWatch Standard Format, but are delivered as zip files containing the imagery. When your order exceeds the automated processing limit listed below, a message will appear on EXPLORE explaining that this order will not be run through automated processing. To process your data as a SkyWatch Standard Product, your AOI must be within the maximum size limits listed below.

Automated Processing Limits:

See this article for additional information about automated processing limits.

  • Medium Resolution (1m-8m): 500 km2

  • High Resolution (50 - 99 cm): 500 km2.

  • Very High Resolution (15 - 49 cm): 150 km2.

Case Example

The order area for the Maxar 50cm archive image is >500 km2. When selected and added to the cart, the message appears explaining how it will be delivered.
