Searching with Coordinates

You can use coordinates (decimals) in the search bar of either the Order Imagery or Search Archive tool in EXPLORE, when defining the location.

You can upload a GeoJSON and KML file or draw a rectangle or a polygon for your AOI.

Uploading Your Areas of Interest (AOI) From a GeoJSON, KML or KMZ

On the top left corner next to the search bar, click the upload icon to upload your AOI from a KMZ, KML or GeoJSON file.

To draw a square or polygon, go to the bottom right corner and click on either the square or polygon icons.

Supported File Upload Types & Limitations

  • GeoJSON and KML are supported on EXPLORE

  • Only 1 file can be uploaded at a time containing a single AOI

  • Holes inside of a polygon are not supported, also known as donut holes

  • No multi-feature polygons.

  • File size should not exceed 13kb

  • Areas must have a minimum of 4 points (polygon) and a maximum of 500 vertices. However, for overly complex AOIs simplification will occur to allow for data processing, this may result in dropped imagery around the edges of the original AOI. To avoid any AOI simplification the Polygon should be limited to 200 vertices or fewer.

  • For tasking orders, minimum width is 2 km.
