Jasco’s smart light bulb communicates with SmartRent’s internet-connected hub, allowing you to monitor and remotely control the bulb via SmartRent Manager Web or SmartRent Manager Mobile. If a Jasco Smart Bulb is installed in a resident’s home, they will be able to monitor and control the bulb within their home using SmartRent App and the Resident Web Portal once they are moved-in. Once a home is occupied, you will no longer have the ability to monitor or control the device.
Installing the Smart Bulb:
Before the bulb can be included into the system, it first needs to be installed. To install the bulb, simply turn off power to the socket where the bulb will be installed and screw the Jasco Smart Bulb into the socket.
Including the Smart Bulb:
Before the Jasco Enbrighten Smart Bulb can be used, you will first need to include it into the home’s Z-Wave network.
To include the bulb, follow these steps:
Turn off power to the socket where the bulb is installed
Put the hub into inclusion mode (refer to our SmartRent Manager Web or Alloy Install articles for additional instructions)
While the hub is in inclusion mode, turn power on to the bulb’s socket
The device should be discovered within a minute
If the device is not discovered, try excluding the device first (see steps below), then return to Step 2
Configuring the Jasco Enbrighten Smart Bulb:
Once the bulb is discovered, it will populate on the Hub page in SmartRent Manager. There are three additional steps needed to finalize the device installation process.
To configure the smart bulb, follow these steps:
Configure the device
This process will happen automatically
Name the device
Choose your desired name for the device
Click Save and Continue in SmartRent Manager, or Name Device in Alloy Install
Click Complete Installation
Excluding the Smart Bulb:
An exclusion is a way to reset a Z-Wave device’s settings. If the Jasco Enbrighten Smart Bulb is not discovered during the inclusion process, it may need to be excluded. This may be necessary if the device was included in a Z-Wave network previously.
To exclude the Jasco Smart Bulb, follow these steps:
Turn off power to the socket where the bulb is installed
Put the hub into exclusion mode (refer to our SmartRent Manager Web or Alloy Install articles for additional instructions)
While the hub is in exclusion mode, turn power on to the bulb’s socket
The device should be excluded within a minute
Using the Smart Bulb:
Once properly installed and included into the Z-Wave network, you can control your bulb from SmartRent.
Additional tips for using the smart bulb:
The Jasco Enbrighten Smart Bulb uses the standard A-type socket
The power to the bulb MUST stay on in order to monitor, control, or automate the bulb
To prevent others from accidentally turning off power to the bulb, install a switch cover over the wall switch
