Using the CRM to import clients

Say you have clients that you want to import but you don't necessarily want to send them invite links - maybe they were past clients that you used with a different software. Maybe they're now inactive.

Whatever the case, here is a step-by-step guide into bulk importing clients and ways to troubleshoot the process!

1. Log into the CRM (https://app.smartwiz.io/login) - you can also click on this button to log in.

2. Navigate to the "Clients" button on your CRM home page.

3. After that, you'll have to click on Bulk Import. This will prompt you to download a CSV template we created for you so that you can start importing your clients over right away.

4. Now that you downloaded the .csv file, you can open it to see the following:

In this example, I'm using Numbers on Mac but you can also use Excel or sheets (or even create these fields yourself).

5. Now you have to change the name of your client fields with the following information: Change "Add your clients" with the value of your client's first name, then fill in last_name, email, and phone number.

6. You can also click on "add row below" to create more rows for the number of clients that you're looking to import.

7. You can repeat those steps until you have the clients that you want to bulk import.

8. Now this step is very important! You're going to want to export this into a .csv file! If it's not a .csv file, it won't work. (Below is how this looks like in Numbers)

10. Once that's done, simply go back to the CRM and click on "Upload CSV File to bulk import clients"

11. After adding in the .csv file, you can then click on Bulk Upload.

12. A successful bulk import should look like this!

So what happens if there's an error in Bulk Importing Clients?

Oh no! You tried to Bulk Import Clients but you're getting this error message. Let's diagnose what could be happening:

1. Did you export and upload the file as a .csv file? Nope, .numbers or a .pdf won't work. You need to export it as a .csv file!

2. Depending on the size, you can try bulk importing with the .csv file with less clients

3. You included table names when creating and uploading your .csv file. If you'e using Numbers on Mac be sure to uncheck this green check mark!

You can try recreating this error by using a file WITH table names and it WILL give you an error. (file Client_bulk_import_with_table_names.csv will not work but Client_bulk_import_without_table_names.csv will!)
