How to Complete State Refund (Direct Deposit) Information in TaxWise

If a taxpayer wants their state refund deposited directly into their bank account, follow these steps in TaxWise:


  1. Begin by navigating to the corresponding state’s return page.

  2. To electronically file a state return, select Yes to indicate that you want to e-file this return.

  3. For state refunds, always select the option to have the refund deposited into a different account. Note: You can use the same account information; this is simply a software requirement.

  4. Next, enter the taxpayer’s banking information. Note: It can be the same account information as previously provided.

  5. Since different account is selected, you will need to enter the banking information twice on state returns.


Common Issues & Fixes

Wrong routing/account numberDouble-check with the taxpayer before submitting.
State doesn't allow direct deposit for amended returnsVerify with state tax agency.
Taxpayer prefers paper checkDo not enter banking details (leave blank).
