To start a new tax return in TaxSlayer ProWeb:

  1. Click Start New 2024 Tax Return from the home page.

  2. Enter the Primary Taxpayer’s SSN and click Start Return.
Note: If you’re offering bank products, be sure you get the section 7216 Consent to Use Tax Return Information
signed before starting a new return.

  3. Choose the Filing Status or use the Filing Status Wizard for assistance if you are not sure.

  4. Enter all Personal Information for the taxpayer and spouse (if applicable).
Note: For returns with bank products, you will need to provide two different telephone numbers in the return.

  5. Add dependents if needed. If you need to report dependents on the tax return, select "Yes" when asked, "Do you have any dependents or qualifying persons to claim on your return?" This will guide you through entering their information. Once finished, click "Continue." If you need to add more than one dependent, click "Add a Dependent or Qualifying Child" for each additional entry.

  6. After completing these sections, you will be directed to the Income section of the Federal Return. Here, you can either manually enter the income information or use the Guide Me feature for assistance in reporting specific types of income.

  7. After entering your income, the program will guide you through the remaining sections of the Federal Return. Once the Federal section is complete, you will be prompted to answer questions about Health Insurance.

  8. After completing the Federal Section of the return, add the State Return, if applicable.

  9. Once all entries on the tax return have been completed, navigate to the Summary/Print page to review the return. On the Calculation Summary page, you can:

    • View the refund or amount due

    • Print the return

    • Access an interactive display of Form 1040 and Schedules 1, 2, and 3

    • Check why EIC (Earned Income Credit) was not calculated, if applicable.

  10. If everything looks correct on the tax return, proceed to the E-file page to enter all the necessary e-file information.
