1. Create a live stream

a. Upload a pre-recorded video

Firstly, open the Smartzer editor and create a new livestream project. Click 'Upload Video' and upload the video you wish to use in your livestream.

When you go live, this video will play as if it were live. The stream will end automatically when the video ends.

b. Create your Stream Key and URL

First of all, click the blue button that says ' Create a Stream'. After that, the following interface will show up. To connect the Smartzer editor to your streaming device you will need to locate the RTMP URL and the stream key. This can be found here in the Smartzer editor:

You can add the stream key to the end of the RTMP link and then input this into your streaming player. Here's a quick guide to a few of our favorite apps we tried when testing.

2. Adjust the video scale

You can edit and adjust your video stream format depending on whether you would like to stream in landscape or portrait.

The "Video Scale Options" can be found beneath the "Live Stream Setup" area:

For portrait streaming, select "Fit The Screen". This will show your video in the preview area like this:

For landscape streaming select "Fill The Screen"

This will center your video stream to fit the landscape as shown in the preview area like this:

3. Create your Splashscreen

You can also configure a start screen before going live. This is the placeholder that will be displayed to your audience. You can edit the Splash Screen as per indicated below.

You can drag and drop or upload an image file to update the first screen that the viewer will see as they wait for the stream to go live.

We would recommend you adding a 16:9 image for landscape and a 9:16 image for portrait format selecting the appropriate ratio on the drop-down button at the top.

You can add text to describe the stream or explain what time the stream will be going live (eg. 'Starting Soon' etc).

At the bottom of the splash screen you have the option to enable a stream countdown. This will show a countdown clock on your splash screen.

Please note: when the clock hits zero, your stream will NOT automatically be pushed live. You will still need to manually click "Go Live".

You also have the option to activate 'Add To Calendar'. If turned on, people who visit the landing page before the live event will be able to save the event to their calendars. They will then be reminded of your upcoming live stream via their calendar of choice.

You can add the URL of the landing page so that they can simply click this from within their calendar and join the live. The time of the calendar placeholder will be determined by the countdown day and time.

Additional info: at the moment the Add to Calendar feature only works for Google and Outlook calendars.

You can preview your splash screen by clicking "Publish" and viewing the stream URL in a separate window.

4. Import products

To begin importing your products, navigate to the 'Products' section of the editor using the navigation panel on the left-hand side. Here simply click the 'IMPORT PRODUCTS' button.

After selecting your API you will then be able to search products by ID number (or in some cases Product Name). Add a string of product IDs to request multiple products at once. Once you have requested the items you want to add to your project, select them and click 'IMPORT SELECTED' to finish the import.

Note: Depending on your e-commerce integration, certain functionalities may vary on your account. Please contact your Account Manager for custom integration inquiries.

5. Manually create products

To add products to your project, you must navigate to the 'Products' section of the editor using the navigation panel on the left-hand side. Here you will be able to manually add product information using the product form.

Once you have added in your desired product information click 'SAVE' in the top right-hand corner of the page to finish building your product.

Tip: Click the product in the product list to edit the product again.

6. Create your Endscreen

In the video upload section, you can also upload an End Screen. This is the last image that the customer sees once the live stream has ended. Click the pen icon next to the End Screen to edit.

Here, you can drag and drop or click to upload an image for the End Screen. Click the 16:9 desktop from the drop-down in the top right-hand side of the page to assign a landscape image.

Click the 9:16 portrait option from the drop-down on the top right-hand side of the page to assign a vertical image for mobile viewing.

Click the 1:1 option to assign a square image to the end screen for square screens. Please note: it is not essential to upload a square image if you do not have a square video uploaded.

You can also enable the end screen carousel although we would recommend you to redirect the stream instead of this.

Depending on what ratio you are using, you want to adjust the number of products displayed to optimize the viewing experience. We recommend using the following for each ratio:

16:9: 4

1:1: 2

9:16: 1

By clicking 'Edit products in Carousel', you can also order the products on the end screen carousel by dragging and dropping and hiding some of them by clicking on the eye below.

7. Comments & Reactions

You can let your viewers communicate during the stream by enabling the chat bar. This is located in the COMMENTS section to the left of the editor here:

This is a great feature to enable you to provide your viewers with a personal experience with a community feel. You can also switch this on and off during the stream.

By enabling 'Use nicknames', your viewers will need to give themselves a nickname in order to comment. If you enable 'Use blocked words' global swear words will be blocked.

Good to know: you can change the 'host' text to your company name if you wish, just contact your account manager.

Additionally, Smartzer allows you to pin comments both from the host and from users. The comments can be pinned and unpinned from the Smartzer editor anytime throughout the live stream. In order to do this, you would only need to click on the pin icon.

Reactions

You can also enable the heart reaction button to appear at the bottom right of your live stream. This allows viewers to display hearts on the stream, like on Instagram Live. You can turn this on and off during the stream.

8. Carousel

You can order your products under the "carousel" tab.

Here, you can adjust the order of your products in the "products" and "feature" area as well as adjust the order of the products that appear in the bottom carousel. Just drag and drop your products to arrange them.

9. Feature products

Whilst you are live, you can now select which items you wish to appear at certain points in the stream. Simply click on the product cards on the left-hand side to add the item as a featured product.

Top Tip: It is recommended to have someone managing the stream as you broadcast your products live.

Use the delete icon in the FEATURED PRODUCTS section to remove the item as a featured product in the stream.

Please note, a product carousel will also display at the bottom of the stream. Viewers can browse this as the broadcast plays and revisit products that have previously been shown.

10. Save, Publish & Go LIVE

Once you are happy with your changes, click the SAVE icon on the top right of the editor to save your project. Saving will save your progress within the editor. If the project were to be embedded on a site, you would need to click 'Publish' in order to see the changes pulling through.

11. See all the features LIVE

By clicking on the 'Share' button and checking off the 'Show buy now' button and 'Add to cart' button as below, you will be able to see the live as a user.

12. Save the stream as a recording

Once the stream has finished, you can export your stream as a live stream recording. This is an exact copy of your stream that features all the clickable and shoppable elements.

If you want to export your project straight away, make sure you tick the box in the popup labeled 'Export this stream as a recording project' after you have clicked 'End Stream'.

This will export your stream straightaway. If for whatever reason you miss this step, you can also access that stream in the "Stream" sections on the left-hand side.

This will then bring up your recordings list. You can export by clicking the three dots on the right-hand side of your chosen recording.

Click "export stream as a recording"

13. Redirect the stream

You can also 'Redirect the stream' this will replace the live stream embedding for the recording of it without needing to re-embed the player again. To do this, click the three dots to the right of your exported project.

Click "Redirect to this project".

You can remove the redirection at any time by clicking the three dots and selecting 'Remove redirection'

This means that anyone visiting the live stream URL or iFrame will see the exact recording of the previous live. You can test this by clicking "share" and visiting the player link.

You will be able to see all of the popups, comments and reactions that occurred in your stream. If you would not like other users to see this, go to 'Edit project' and make the desired changes.
