1. Setting up your stream and connecting it to your streaming player
To connect the Smartzer editor to your streaming device you will need to locate the RTMP URL and the stream key. This can be found here in the Smartzer editor:
You can add the stream key to the end of the RTMP link and then input this into your streaming player. Here's a quick guide to a few of our favorite apps we tried when testing.
2. Add products to your project
Prior to going live you will need to add the products you wish to feature to your live stream project.
3. Configure the Splash Screen
You can also configure a video start screen before going live. This is the placeholder that will be displayed to your audience. You can edit the Splash Screen under the live video tab on the left of the editor.
You can drag and drop or upload an image file to update the first screen that the viewer will see as they wait for the stream to go live.
You can add text to describe the stream or explain what time the stream will be going live (eg. 'Starting Soon' etc).
4. Configure the video End Screen
You can also configure a video end screen before going live. This is the final frame that will be displayed to your audience once you have completed your live stream. You can edit the End Screen under the live video tab on the left of the editor.
You can edit the image by dragging and dropping or uploading an image file. You can create a product carousel to display at the end of your stream. This is extremely effective at encouraging last-minute purchases as it reminds your viewer of the products shown in the stream.
5. Save & Publish your project
Before going live be sure to SAVE and PUBLISH your project. This will apply the changes you have made to the player link. Save (💾 ) and PUBLISH can be found at the top right-hand corner of the editor.
6. Going Live!
Once you have added your products, connected your stream, and configured the start and end screen, you will be ready to go live.
Before going live:
Make sure you have published all your latest changes. Especially the products that you will use during the stream.
Share the live video URL or Iframe across your websites and channels allowing everyone to enjoy the live experience.
When ready, click the 'GO LIVE' Button at the top of the screen and go live. Once you click the "Go Live" button the poster will be removed and everyone will see the live streaming and your products.
7. Adding featured products as the stream plays
Whilst you are live, you can now select which items you wish to appear at certain points in the stream. Simply click on the product cards on the left-hand side to add the item as a featured product.
Top Tip: It is recommended to have someone managing the stream as you broadcast your products live.
Use the delete icon in the FEATURED PRODUCTS section to remove the item as a featured product in the stream.
Please note, a product carousel will also display at the bottom of the stream. Viewers can browse this as the broadcast plays and revisit products that have previously been shown.
8. Letting your viewers communicate via a chat bar
You can let your viewers communicate during the stream by enabling the chat bar. This is located in the COMMENTS section in the bottom right corner of the editor here:
This is a great feature to enable to provide your viewers with a personal experience with a community feel. You can also switch this on and off during the stream. Global swear words have been blocked from the chat bar.
9. Ending your stream
Once you have finished your live stream. Simply click 'END LIVE' at the top of the page. This will then display the End Screen to your viewers, giving them the option to shop the products from a carousel.
