How to Set Up Auto-Redeemable Rewards

Introduction

  • Purpose: This guide walks you through the process of creating auto-redeemable rewards in the SocialLadder Admin Portal.

  • Context: Automatically fulfill rewards for ambassadors added to a specific segment. Once added, they’ll receive a Redemption Confirmation email with instructions to claim their reward—no need to redeem points in the Ambassador Dashboard.

  • Use Cases for Auto-Redeemable Rewards:

    • Welcome Gift for ambassadors who complete onboarding challenges

    • Reward for completing a specific challenge

    • Prize for top performers in a given month

Requirements

  • Enable Feature: The Auto-Redemption feature must be enabled in your Admin Portal. If you don’t see the option on the Point & Cost page when creating a reward, contact your IS or CSM.

  • Segment Setup: You must assign ambassadors to a segment to trigger the auto-redeemable reward.

How to Create Auto-Redeemed Rewards

  1. Access SL Admin Portal

  2. Click on Compensation → Rewards

  3. Click the + CREATE button at the top-left corner to open the Reward Wizard.

  4. On the Name page enter the information below and click 'Next'.

    • Select a category and subcategory for the reward (e.g., "Prizes", "Exclusive Experiences").

    • What do you want to call this reward? Enter the name that will be visible to ambassadors.

  5. On the Description page enter the info:

    • Description - Add more information about the rewards.

    • Image - Upload an image to represent the reward visually on the dashboard.

  6. On the Units page:

    • How many units would you like to make available for this rewards? - Specify the total number of units available for the Ambassador Program.

    • How many units would you like each user to be able to claim? Select 

      1 unit / user.

  7. On the Point & Cost page, select By being added to a specific segment.

  8. Select the Segment

    • To provide the Welcome Gift for newly joined ambassadors who have completed the onboarding challenges, select the segment Onboarded Users.


  9. On Dates, define key dates for reward visibility and redemption:

    • When the reward is visible in the app.

    • When users can begin redeeming the reward.

    • When redemption ends (expiration): Set the expiration date far in the future to ensure ambassadors can always redeem the reward, regardless of when they’re added to the segment.



  10. On Redemption page, select one of the following options for how ambassadors can redeem the reward:


    • Option A: Automated Code Emailed

      • Send an automated code for external redemption (e.g., e-commerce site).

      • Instructions - Include redemption instructions and a direct link to the redemption page.

      • Important: This reward is managed outside of SocialLadder, so tracking must be handled externally.

    • Option B: Automated Email to Fulfiller with Redeemer on Copy

      • Notify the fulfiller and ambassador via email.

      • Enter the fulfiller’s name and email address.

    • Option C: Provide Instructions

      • Provide customized redemption instructions for the ambassador.

      • Optionally, send a copy of the redemption email to an admin.

    • Option D: Convert to Currency

      • Convert points to cash with a defined conversion value.

      • Include payout instructions.

  11. On the Advanced page, enter the options as bellow:

    • Segment - Choose which ambassador segments can view the reward.

      • Note: The Ambassador won't be able to claim the reward.

    • Campaign - Add the reward for a campaign for reporting purposes.


  12. On the Finish page, review all reward details for accuracy. Choose one of the following:

    • Save and Publish: Makes the reward live upon the scheduled start date.

    • Save as Draft: Save the reward for later editing.

  13. Click Submit to finalize.


Best Practices

  • Create Expectation Around Welcome Gift: Share on your landing page, welcome email and ambassador handbook that a welcome gift is waiting for them after they complete the onboarding challenges. 

  • Offer rewards that resonate with ambassador interests and align with your brand identity.

  • Use clear, concise descriptions to avoid confusion during redemption.
