Adding Image Captions for Accessibility

It's always good to make your website more accessible!

Updated over a week ago

Adding alt attributes (captions) to photos on your website improves accessibility for visually impaired users and enhances SEO by providing descriptive text for search engines, ultimately enhancing user experience and demonstrating your commitment to inclusivity and compliance.

Step 1 - Locate Your Photos

The "Photos" tab on the left-hand navigation bar will take you to the Albums page where you can see all the photos on your account. Some albums are created automatically, but you can create new ones too by clicking the "Create album" button. Click on an album to locate the photo you want to add a caption to.

Step 2 - Click the Eye Icon

Move your cursor over an image to view additional options. Selecting the trash bin icon will delete the photo, and the eye icon will open the captions pop-up.

Step 3 - Add a Caption

Add a descriptive caption to the image, then hit SAVE. This caption is invisible to most guests, but those using a screen reader will have the caption read to them.
