What to do if your Seeker is lost or stolen

Standard security protocols to secure your data and digital assets if you no longer have physical control of your device.

Updated this week

If you have lost your Seeker, or believe it has been stolen, act quickly to ensure your data and digital assets remain secure. While the Seeker is equipped with hardware-backed encryption and PIN protection, losing physical control of any hardware device containing sensitive information introduces risks that should be mitigated immediately.

Please follow these standard security protocols:

Step 1: Remotely Wipe Your Device

Android’s built-in security tools allow you to factory reset your phone remotely, which erases the Seed Vault and all encrypted key materials.

  1. Log in to Google Find My Device using the Google account signed into your Seeker.

  2. Select your Seeker from the device list.

  3. Select "Erase Device" (Factory Reset).

    • Note: This will permanently delete all data on the phone. Ensure you have your Seed Phrase backed up (written down) securely before doing this, as you will need it to recover your funds.

Step 2: Rotate Your Private Keys (Move Assets)

  1. Restore: Import your Seed Phrase (using your physical backup) into a secure wallet on a different device (e.g., a hardware wallet or trusted software wallet).

  2. Create: Generate a brand new wallet with a new Seed Phrase.

  3. Transfer: Send all your assets from the old wallet to the new one.

Does this apply to all lost devices? Yes. It is a general security best practice in the crypto industry to "rotate keys" (move funds to a new wallet) whenever a device holding those keys is lost or stolen, regardless of the specific hardware model.
