When using the VAS-F scale for your athlete, you will see a line graph with different colored dots: grey, blue, purple,and red. Each color represents how your athlete felt at different points for each metric they submitted:
Grey: Before the session started
Blue: During the session
Purple: After the session ended
Red: Marks the end of one day and the start of a new day

The line connects the dots, showing changes in fatigue throughout the session for each metric.
Red dots separate different days, making it easy to see how fatigue levels change from day to day.
By following the sequence GREY → BLUE → PURPLE → RED, you can track how your athlete’s fatigue changes before, during, and after each session.
How to Use the VAS-F Scale
To get the most accurate information:
Ask your athlete to complete the VAS-F at the end of each session for every metric they are tracking.
They should rate how they felt at three key points:
Before the session: How did they feel before the session began?
During the session: How did they feel while the session was in progress?
After the session: How did they feel when the session ended?
Metrics They Will Rate:
Your athlete will provide ratings for the following metrics:
Mental Demand – How mentally challenging was the session?
Physical Demand – How physically demanding was the session?
Effort – How much effort did they put into the session?
Frustration – How frustrated did they feel?
Anger – Did they feel any anger or irritation?
Fatigue – How tired did they feel?
Vigour – How energetic and lively did they feel?

By consistently tracking these values for each metric, you can easily spot patterns in fatigue, mental demand, and emotional states. This insight allows you to make informed adjustments to training plans, leading to better performance and improved recovery.
