The VAS-F scale uses a line graph with colour-coded dots to show how your athlete felt at different points throughout each session.
What each colour means
Grey is before the session. Blue is during the session. Purple is after the session. Red marks the end of one day and the start of the next.
Follow the sequence grey, blue, purple, red to track how fatigue and other metrics shift before, during, and after each session. The line connecting the dots shows how each metric changes across those points.
How to use it
Ask your athlete to complete the VAS-F at the end of each session. They rate how they felt at three points for every metric they are tracking: before the session started, during the session, and after it ended.
Metrics they will rate
Mental Demand, Physical Demand, Effort, Frustration, Anger, Fatigue, and Vigour.
Why it matters
Tracking these values consistently across sessions makes it easy to spot patterns in fatigue, mental demand, and emotional state. That data gives you the information to adjust training plans with confidence rather than relying on guesswork.
