Soma Analytics lets you apply scales that athletes complete after each task. You can choose to apply none, one, or all available scales. After each task, the athlete submits their response, which is stored for that specific task. These scales provide valuable feedback on how the athlete perceived the session.
RME: Rating of Mental Effort Scale
Used to measure how mentally demanding a task felt.
This scale captures how much mental focus or workload the task required. It helps identify which tasks place the greatest cognitive demand on the athlete.
RMF: Rating of Mental Fatigue
Used to measure how mentally tired the athlete feels after completing a task.
This scale helps you understand how much fatigue each task produces. Tracking this data is important, as higher mental fatigue can temporarily reduce performance.
RPE: Rating of Perceived Exertion
Used to measure how hard the athlete feels they worked overall.
This scale combines both physical and cognitive sensations such as effort, breathing, and muscle tension. It’s most useful when athletes are performing concurrent physical and cognitive training.
Together, these scales help you link perceived effort with actual data, giving you a complete picture of how the athlete experiences cognitive load.
