When registering your passkey in Soma Analytics, you will be offered three options: Touch ID, Use another device (QR scan), or Security key. Most coaches should use Touch ID for the smoothest experience.
Occasionally, the browser skips straight to the Security key prompt, or Touch ID does not appear as expected. This is a browser fallback behaviour and has nothing to do with Soma Analytics.
Why it happens
Your browser checks in real time whether Touch ID is available on your device. If it cannot confirm this, due to a system state issue, a browser permission gap, or a hardware conflict, it falls back to Security key. This can happen across any combination of browser, operating system, and device, and cannot always be prevented with certainty.
What to do
Close the Security key prompt and cancel the registration flow.
Quit your browser completely, then reopen it.
Confirm Touch ID or Windows Hello is active and enrolled in your device settings.
Return to Soma Analytics and try again. When the options appear, select Touch ID.
If Touch ID still does not work, try switching to a different browser. Chrome and Safari tend to have the most reliable platform authenticator support. Alternatively, Use another device (QR scan) is a reliable fallback that uses your phone's biometrics instead.
