Some webtexts may include MathML equations, which NVDA can help you navigate more easily. Before you get started reading equations in the webtext, make sure youâve installed the latest version of NVDA.
Read equations
Here are the basic commands for navigating each equation:
The up and down arrows let you zoom in and out of the equation to focus on smaller sections as you go.
The left and right arrows move you through the equation after youâve zoomed in. When the equation is fully zoomed out, the left and right arrow keys will not do anything. This is especially helpful when you have long equations or when you need to focus on individual parts step by step.
The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C lets you copy the MathML source code if you need to display it elsewhere or use it with other assistive technologies.
Change settings
To change your settings, such as the length of the pause in between parts of the equation, the language the math content is read in, and other preferences, follow the instructions below.
Press the NVDA key (caps lock or insert) + N.
Navigate to Settings.
Use the down arrow to open the Math category.
To access more math settings and options, navigate to an equation and press Space. This will open a menu with options like âShow Math Asâ and âCopy to Clipboard.â
