Q: How often do you update the data on Specter?

Company Signals:

  • New Companies: Daily

  • Funding Signals: Daily

  • Growth Signals: Monthly

Talent Signals: Generated Daily, featured Weekly

Investor Signals: Generated Daily, featured Weekly

We're considering increasing the frequency of Talent and Investor Signals, but our previous attempt met with significant client resistance. Most funds prefer receiving new batches of signals to analyse between Monday and Friday, with updates typically released on Fridays.

Q: Where does Specter source its data?

We continuously monitor and aggregate data from thousands of online sources, such as regulatory filings, company websites, press releases, and public databases. We Implement real-time tracking systems to stay updated on key metrics, such as hiring trends, funding rounds, or executive movements.

Specter also employs a team of analysts to cross-reference data from multiple sources to maintain consistency. We care about personal data protection and security and are committed to complying with applicable data privacy laws and regulations.

Q: Are you using clients' search tendencies in Specter to create signals?

Absolutely not, we care deeply about our client’s personal data protection and security and are committed to complying with applicable data privacy laws and regulations.

Investor Signals are only formulated using publicly available sources. Specter tracks the online and social behaviour of leading investors and industry insiders o predict future funding rounds, mergers and acquisitions, and partnerships.

Q: Why is a particular founder missing from the database?

We’re constantly expanding and updating our database. In October 2025 we made the jump from 25+ million to 409+ million people. Making us the largest People Database in the VC Market. If you notice absences, please reach out to our support team.

Q: Why aren’t valuations shown for every funding round in the Companies tab?

That’s completely normal — we only display verified Post-Money Valuations. Most platforms, including PitchBook, don’t have this information for the majority of companies.
