Zapier Integration - Latest

Connect Specter to 7,000+ apps with your own Zap on any schedule you choose.

Written by Azher Rashid Hussain

Specter's Zapier integration lets you push fresh signals into any of Zapier's 7,000+ connected apps including Slack, Google Sheets, your CRM, and more, on a schedule you control. Instead of a fixed weekly delivery, you build a simple two-step Zap that calls the Specter API directly, so you decide exactly what flows and how often.

Before you start

You'll need a Specter API key and a Zapier account. Generate your key in the Integrations PanelTreat the key like a password anyone who has it can access your Specter data.

Why use the API?

  • Flexible scheduling - choose any cadence (hourly, daily, weekly), not just the fixed weekly push of the legacy app.

  • Full signal coverage - pull Talent Signals and Investor Interest Signals straight from the source.

  • Any destination - route signals to any of Zapier's 7,000+ apps and build multi-step automations on top.

Step 1: Create a Zap on Zapier

  1. Log in to your Zapier account.

  2. Click on Create Zap

Step 2: Create a Trigger Event on Zapier

  1. In the trigger menu, search for Specter, and select it.

Choose a trigger event to define when your Zap runs. The following events are available:

Talent Signals

  • New Talent Signal - Triggers when a new Talent signal is added to our database.

  • New Talent Signal in Saved Search - Triggers when a new Talent signal is added to a specific Saved Search you choose.

Investor Interest Signals

  • New Investor Interest Signal - Triggers when a new Interest Intelligence signal is added to our database.

  • New Investor Interest Signals in Saved Search - Triggers when a new Investor Interest signal is added to a specific Saved Search you choose.

Step 3: Connect to Specter

  1. Connect to Specter by clicking on the Sign In button

  2. A pop-up will prompt you to Allow Zapier to access your Specter Account

  3. Go to https://app.tryspecter.com/integrations and click on Generate Zapier API key and copy the key

  4. Paste the API key into the pop-up

Step 4: Test Specter Trigger event

  1. Once connected, go to the Configure Step

  2. Select the relevant Saved Search for this example

  3. Use the Test Trigger to verify that your setup is working correctly.

  4. Select a recent record

  5. Press Continue with selected record

Note: Our Zapier delivery date is Saturday, which is in-sync with when we make updates to the front-end with new signals weekly.

Step 5: Add a Webhooks by Zapier action

  1. Add Webhooks by Zapier as the next step. This is what calls the Specter API and pulls your signals.

  2. Click on Action Event

  3. Select GET

  4. Click on Continue

  5. In the Configure Step

    1. Paste the endpoint for the signal type you want to pull in the URL Field:

      1. Talent Signals: https://api.tryspecter.com/api-reference/talent-signals-saved-searches/get-talent-signals-saved-search-results

      2. Investor Interest Signals: https://api.tryspecter.com/api-reference/investor-interest-saved-searches/get-investor-interest-signals-saved-search-results

Note: Replace {searchId} with the ID of a Saved Search you've shared with the API. This keeps each Zap focused on the exact signals you care about.

  6. Press Continue

  7. Click on Test Step

  8. Click on Publish

  9. Success! Your Zap with Specter Data is now live!
