Purpose:
To explain when and how private contests are resized to ensure fair play and payoutsโeven if the contest doesnโt fill completely.
๐งฉ Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. What is Contest Resizing?
Contest resizing allows private contests to still run ๐ก even if they donโt reach full capacity, so users can still play and win. The prize pool adjusts based on actual participation levels, ensuring fair competition while maintaining viable payouts.
2. Does My Contest Qualify?
โ๏ธ Resizing only applies to private contests
โ Public contests will NOT be resized
3. Basic Resizing Rules
If the number of entries > number of prize spots โ The contest will be resized and run โ
If the number of entries < number of prize spots โ The contest runs for free, and entry fees are fully refunded ๐ธ
In contests with predefined entries and equal participant numbers (e.g., a 5-person contest with exactly 5 entries), resizing doesn't occur โ
4. How Payouts Work After Resizing
๐ Splash will try to keep the original prize structure. ๐ If thatโs not possible, it will choose the closest payout format available. ๐ When contests have fewer entries than expected, payouts will naturally be lower because the prize pool scales with participation.
Examples:
Winner Takes All: 2+ players = one winner gets the prize
Top X Win:
If fewer than X join โ contest runs for free
If X or more join โ Top X win ๐ฐ
5. Multiplier Contest Resizing
(Applies to Double Up, Triple Up, Quadruple Up contests)
๐งฎ Prize per winner never decreases
๐ฅ Instead, the number of winners adjusts based on actual entries
๐ต Formula for resized prize pool:
โ{Entry Fee} x {Actual # of Entrants} x 0.90
๐ข Winner count is rounded down if it's a decimal
6. Where to View Contest Info & History
๐ฒ Contest Details: Tap your contest, then tap the โน๏ธ icon in the bottom-right corner
๐ My Entries Tab: See Live, Upcoming, and Settled contests
๐ Transaction History: Go to My Splash Account > Transaction History
7. Managed Contest Fees
๐ผ For contests managed by Splash, a 10% administrative fee is applied to cover operational costs. ๐ฐ Example: In a contest with a $10,000 prize pool, winners would receive $9,000 after the fee deduction. โ๏ธ This fee covers payment processing, user verification, and platform security.
