In MLB Hit Streak Survivor, each day you select a primary batter—the player you hope will get a hit and keep your streak alive. But what happens if that batter doesn’t play? That’s where your alternate pick comes in.
What is an Alternate Pick?
An alternate pick is your backup batter, chosen in case your primary batter is unable to play or record an at-bat.
When Does the Alternate Get Used?
Your alternate will automatically replace your primary batter if any of the following happen:
The game is postponed or canceled
The batter is not in the starting lineup
The batter doesn’t enter the game at all
The batter is injured before getting an at-bat
If your alternate plays and gets a hit → your entry advances
If neither your primary nor alternate plays → your entry is eliminated
When Does the Swap Happen?
The alternate swap is triggered after the primary batter’s game ends and it's confirmed they did not play. If the primary comes in late and gets a hit after the alternate is already used — the alternate’s result still counts.
Can I Reuse an Alternate?
Yes! If your alternate isn’t used, you’re free to pick that player again in future slates. Only used batters are considered locked out.
