QuickPicks MLB: Why Was My Player Graded as DNP?

Explains the reasons an MLB player may be graded as DNP (Did Not Play) on a QuickPicks slip, including starting lineup rules, postponed games, and suspensions.

If one of your MLB player picks has been graded as DNP (Did Not Play), it means the player did not meet the eligibility requirements to be scored in your QuickPicks contest.

A DNP is worth 0.5 points — it is not the same as an incorrect pick (0 points).

Reasons an MLB Player May Be Graded DNP

1. Player Was Not in the Starting Lineup

This is the most common reason for an MLB DNP. Batters must be in the official starting lineup at game time to be eligible for scoring. If a player enters the game as a substitute — even if they record stats — they will still be graded as DNP.

2. Player Recorded 0 Plate Appearances

If a batter was in the starting lineup but did not record any plate appearances during the game, they will be graded as DNP.

3. Pitcher Recorded 0 Innings Pitched

If a pitcher did not record any innings pitched during the game, they will be graded as DNP.

4. Game Was Postponed

If a player's game was postponed, the game is scheduled to resume at a later date beyond the end of the QuickPicks contest. The player will be graded as DNP.

5. Game Was Suspended

If a player's game was suspended, the game may or may not resume at a later date beyond the end of the QuickPicks contest. The player will be graded as DNP.

6. Player Was Designated as Unavailable

If a player was designated as out, injured, or otherwise unavailable by their team or league before the game, they will be graded as DNP.

How Does a DNP Affect My Entry?

  • A DNP pick is worth 0.5 points toward your total score.

  • On Top Score game mode, your 0.5 points still count — you can still win the contest by outscoring your opponents.

  • On Perfect Score game mode, If you have a DNP on an otherwise perfect score, we downgrade your entry.

    • For example if I select perfect score on a 4-pick entry, and score 3.5, my entry is downgraded to a 3-pick entry and I am paid out for a perfect 3-pick entry instead of a perfect 4-pick entry. The multiplier will be lower, but at least I don't get $0.

Can I Get a Refund for a DNP?

QuickPicks contests do not offer injury protection or refunds for DNP picks. Once a contest is locked, all entries are final regardless of player availability. This applies to all DNP scenarios including injuries, postponed games, and suspended games.
