Entertainment-Only: MLB – How do I run a 13-Run Contest?

Updated over a week ago

An MLB 13-Run Contest is a cumulative scoring game where participants select a team and track total runs scored over time until a set target is reached.

How It Works

  • Each participant (or the commissioner) selects an MLB team.

  • Runs scored by that team are tracked across multiple games.

  • The contest continues until a participant’s team reaches the configured run target (typically 13 runs).

Setting Up Your Contest

When creating your contest, commissioners can:

  • Set the run threshold (anywhere from 6 to 13 runs)

  • Choose whether participants:

    • Select their own teams, or

    • Are assigned teams manually or via the “Assign Random Teams” option

Key Notes

  • The contest does not stop mid-game — runs will continue to accumulate until the game is complete.

  • There are no automated notifications when:

    • A team scores runs

    • A participant reaches the target

  • To track progress, commissioners and participants should regularly check the Standings page.

  • The winner is the participant who first reaches the target number of runs (based on your contest settings).

Migrating from OFP

If you are migrating from OfficeFootballPool (OFP):

  • Your previous settings will not carry over

  • We recommend reviewing all settings carefully before launching your contest
